: Help with Menus and sections : nato February 21, 2011, 04:40:33 PM Please oh please can someone tell me where I am going wrong! I am a relative newbie to Joomla. I inherited a site and have purchased Shopping Frenzy template and applied it. The problem is somehow I think the menus are not quite right. I have a section I have named 'I DOnt Want This here!' that I just cant get rid of.
Please could someone help me out. The URL is www.iphonepartstore.co.uk If I unpublish this section, I lose the whole site and error 404. All I wish for is for this to not be displayed. I have tried creating a new section called test but in menu manager, if I click in my main menu to change the section parameter, I have to chose at least 1 section item, so it makes no difference as it is still displayed (all be it called test) Would really appreciate some advise and help or pointers to an idiots guide to menu's etc ! lol... Thanks in advance : Re: Help with Menus and sections : mikek February 22, 2011, 08:27:34 AM Hello,
I am looking at your site but do not see any area called 'I DOnt Want This here!'. Where is it located? : Re: Help with Menus and sections : nato February 23, 2011, 01:41:13 PM Hi
Ive been playing to try to correct it. It now says 'Main'. It seems it is to do with the main menu I have, but how do I get rid of the 'Main' menu? Basically I have the Shopping Frenzy template. Which menu should I select in the template itself? Thanks for any help! Nathan : Re: Help with Menus and sections : mikek February 23, 2011, 02:22:04 PM Hello,
In the template configuration you can select any many to show at the top of the page, it is up to you which menu you would like to show up there. It all depends on what links you want shown on there. : Re: Help with Menus and sections : nato February 23, 2011, 03:13:14 PM Hi. My problem is that I have an area called 'Main' in the top part, which I cant get rid of.

That is your frontpage component/article area. You can turn this off from the template configuration page. On this page you will see the parameter for it, just set it to No and that area will be hidden. : Re: Help with Menus and sections : nato February 23, 2011, 03:35:42 PM Hi
I have turned this off but it is still showing : Re: Help with Menus and sections : nato February 23, 2011, 04:09:34 PM Ok. I changed the default menu type to 'blog' and with that setting it has worked! - hoorah! - many thanks for your help - you're a star!
