Shape 5

Hi,

Since yesterday JoomFish 2.0 (RC1) for Joomla 1.5.X is out. (Public release later in September).

I'm translating my site into English (Swedish default), it's a dire job, but fun and rewarding.

However, this got me thinking and poking around in Joomla/JoomFish/VM/Shape5 forums for the better part of the day...
And from what I can see, the demand for nice, well written templates WITH full multilingual support, is high. Especially when it comes to e-commerce. (The bigger the market.... and so on.)

Isn't it high time for Shape 5 to form existing or at least new templates in the 'Global' direction?

The issues with many of the templates today, not just Shape 5, is that they (and extensions too), seem to build their own solutions for cooping with languages. It can be hardcoded in modules, or by means of parameters.

The questions is why?

To adhere to the Joomla native structure and use language files of the correct standard is easy to implement, to maintain and easy for translations components like JoomFish to sink its teeth into.

I think that even if the globe shrinks and more people become skilled in English (and more Internet skilled), the use of local language is still going to be a requirement for most sites. And many times you want the best of both worlds (or markets) both domestic and foreign.

You think it's a problem to find translational skills for these languages files? Personally I think at least Shape 5 has a very well equipped forum to solve that potential issue...  :D
