: Regional News, Business Listings, Activities, Events : gman2005 September 17, 2008, 08:25:48 PM Template Idea:
A professional and attractive city/community/regional template that has: news, business listings(shopping, restaurants, real estate, etc.), classifieds, activities, events (music, entertainment, etc.), attractions, weather and any thing you can think of. Plenty of modules that are well design and flow. and modules that would work for advertisements (banners and boxes) and maybe front page customizable for end user : Re: Regional News, Business Listings, Activities, Events : augment July 21, 2009, 09:35:24 PM I agree, I have a project that calls for this type of template. A place where several local business can have their own page/articles and the ability to go in themselves on the back-end to alter their own content/advertisement.
If there is anything currently like that, please advise. : Re: Regional News, Business Listings, Activities, Events : jonahh July 21, 2009, 10:21:31 PM This is what we designed our City Portal template to resemble.

City Portal The City Portal template was designed to be a small portal for sites that display information for local cities or small towns. I looked at that template but was concerned with the word 'small' used twice within the start of its description. That being said, what are we considering small? Hopefully over a period of time we would have up-to 1000 clients with web pages hosted on the site and the ability to have the clients change their own header image and content within the body of their own page. We would also like to have the host news and events populate every page, client or not without them having access to that module. And, an menu that can handle the different types of services then the list of companies that provide the services. These are my immediate concerns, outside of that I think everything else should work fine. I need to clarify these questions because the client was informed (probably by an CMS salesman) that Joomla is unable to make this happen. So I am in research mode and looking for answers for a proposal this Thursday. Jonahh, do you know of any Joomla websites out there that are set up in this manor using one of your templates that I can visit and use for an example for my client? Thanks for your time, I look forward to your response! : Re: Regional News, Business Listings, Activities, Events : jonahh July 23, 2009, 01:19:00 PM Hello,
I guess the reason we say small is because the template does not include any type of component that a large site would require. The template or any template for that matter can accept any size site, small or large. Its what components you have installed that make it suitable to a small or large site. So what I recommend is searching around on google and on extensions.joomla.org for components that will fit your requirements. Regards, |
