Title: Transfering data to mysql
Post by: jc786 on October 08, 2008, 01:19:35 PM
Hi,
I have bought the eMercantalism template and as soon as i get it configured the next step is to think about transfering my existing data from an mssql database into mysql. I have played around a little with myphpadmin and can see that one way to do it is to copy and past my data into phpadmin tables directly

The only problem is that i do not have access to the mssql  db but can download an excel file of the data.  Another problem i foresee is how to transfer the images. currently there are named according to my own unique product codes. I have no idea how to transfer the images.

Please advise how i should attempt the data Transfer. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Jc

Hey JC,

When you say data is this products on your site or content.  If its products VirtueMart actually has in import feature for this.

Yes, believe you can import this into VirtueMart then, should be through a CSV file.  Check out their forums and site for more details.
