: standard vs. developer membership
: lelando February 10, 2008, 08:15:57 PM
Hi guys... great products!  Anyway, I recently joined up with a standard membership in order to get a template for a client's site.  At this time, I am not using any of your templates anywhere else.

Even though it was for a client, as long as I am not using your 'membership-only' products elsewhere, do I have to upgrade to a Dev membership?

Of course, if/when I have another client who wants one of your templates (which I will of course be suggesting), I have no problem upgrading to the dev license.  However, in the event that this is the only site on which I use one of your templates, I don't feel like I should have to pay for the Dev license until I have other clients wanting me to modify your templates.  Otherwise, I will just transfer the current membership to my client (by replacing all my info with theirs in my account), since it was really just for their project anyway.

Thanks,
Lelando

Lelando,

Any time you create a site for a client, with the except of non-profit sites, it requires a developer membership. You would either need to upgrade to a developer or transition the account over to the client.

Thanks, Mike.

I will be talking with an new client later this week.  If they decide to go for a Joomla! site, I will be recommending one of your templates, and if they wanna go for it, I will upgrade my account.  If not, I will transfer my existing account over to the previous client.

Thanks for the info...  and thanks again for making such great products.

One more quick question, guys.  When upgrading, is the amount I had already paid for my initial membership deducted from the amount of the higher-level membership?

No, there is no deduction, these are treated as brand new memberships because the time of the memberships still remains the same.
