According to w3schools.com's browser stats, IE 6 is still sitting at 22.3% for September '08. This number is definitely too high to drop support for at the moment. I think that once the stats drop below the 8%-10% mark then there shouldn't be too much problem with dropping support. I think one of the big issues is to consider the templates use. If it's main function is for personal sites or for eye candy sites then dropping support would be less of an issue than if it's used for business purposes. If 10% of my potential customers can't effectively view my content, that could translate to a huge loss. In addition, large companies are usually slow to react to browser updates (please correct me if I'm wrong).

Just my opinion......

I'm currently designing the background for my site (using SoG template) and have had some success, some failure and some not so sure results. At the moment, I have about 5 options designed. Looking through my designs, I started to ask myself "What are the elements and secrets of good, eye catching, effective background design?"

I figured I post this question in the forum because I'm sure that I'm not the only rookie here that this could help.

Your comments and suggestions are very appreciated. I feel that I have already gotten my moneys worth for my membership. This is a great community to be a part of.

Hi Sam,

You would install the templates on the same install of Joomla and then you can use the template chooser module for your users to select the template they want to use.

When you use the site shaper you create a blank database and then install it just like you would install Joomla.

After I perform a manual install of J 1.5.7, the generic template is presented.

If I want to install more than one template in addition to the generic one so I or my visitors can change the look of the site, would additional installs remove the previous database or just add the needed tables for the additional templates?

Or would I create a new database for each template?

Also, when using the site shaper, do I create the database first them just upload the site shaper folder to load the rest of the template data? I tried using the install in the Template Manager but it kept bombing so I figured I'd come here and ask.

Thanks,

Sam

Hi All,

I'm searching for a solution for the Joomla SEO issue.  If I turn on SEO, I lose all CSS formatting.  Everything I've found points to modifying the template to add or remove a "/".  Has anybody else encountered this..or better still corrected it.  I see it addressed all over joomla.org, but I can't figure out the fix.

If so, I could use some instruction.  Thanks Much, Sean

Hello,

The memberships typically start when you purchase them, so we don't have discounts built in. However, if you decide to upgrade relatively soon just send an email to contact@shape5.com and we will be able to work an upgrade discount for you.
