There comes a time that no matter what you do... there comes a start over point.

Now i am committed to starting over my site, after many many many years of upgrades and content...  I am wondering if I should up it to the 1.7 or do a 1.5 joomla install. to be honest, i dont know anything about the 1.7, but don't mind researching it some more. I am just wondering if it is worth doing.

I also tried the migration from 1.5 to 1.7... and it was not that great, so I am just going to do a lot of copy and paste of the old articles, which will allow me to refresh them a bit more... what will kill me is the phoca gallery with many many images.

so any suggestions?

to 1.7 or not

thanks

Hello,

I agree the upgrade is a pain from 1.5 to 1.7, but if you want to stay with the most current updates you'll want to go with 1.7/2.5. The upgrade of 1.6+ will be a lot easier, simply doing the upgrade from the backend of joomla is all that's required. 1.5 to 1.7 however, will require a new installation.

Also, keep in mind that many providers will discontinue support on 1.5 products soon. You can read more about our policies in our blog at the top of this page.
