I've asked this question on another site but haven't gotten a response so I thought I'd ask here.

Is it possible to setup a j1.5.7 site on a sub directory and then move all the files over to the main directory such as this...

Intial install to www.mydomain.com/joomla (While in sub directory: Add content, adjust colors, adjust layout, etc)
Then
Move to www.mydomain.com (root directory)

I hope I am explaining this clearly. I'd like to set everything up without downtime for my current site. Currently I keep turning the site off and on thru the admin panel but its taking me longer to configure my site than I originally planned and would like to keep everything running while I make the switch to joomla.

Thanks for any help or advice.

You would need to move all the files and folders to the new folder, you can do this right in cpanel but it will take a good 15 or 20 minutes to move them all probably. And then just edit the configuration file in the root of the Joomla install. There are several lines, I'm not sure which off the top of my head, that need to be changed to show the new location. If you read the lines in the configuration file they're be pretty obvious.

Thanks.

I figured the config file would need to be adjusted but was worried there would be other issues.

I'll give it a try and see what happens. At worst I'll waste more time and have to redo everything. lol  Shocked
