Please tell me the steps taken to host a wordpress website on remote server after developing it in localhost. The next thing is how to make a specific widget appear only on home page.

Using your exact words in a quick search, I found This Tutorial, which I believe will tell you exactly how to do what you want.

As for making widgets appear only on specific pages, I use Widget Context on all the demos for that exact purpose.

It works perfect but the Home page link is still directing to localhost

The tutorial I linked to includes instructions on how to edit the database (Step 5: Changing the site URL).  That will fix the problem you're having.

It works perfect but the Home page link is still directing to localhost
Hi. Probably you should take a look on Appearance / Menus and check if it's a custom link or a page set for Homepage.
