Hi,
Using the shopping cart GCKStore theme and under the main slider there is a row called "top_row1" and it has 3 positions.
Then below is of course top_row2 but it only has 1 position.
So I went into the theme, opened the management tool and went to "Main" and "Layout" and selected the dropdown on the right for "2 positions" .
When I hit save it changes the row to 6 areas of odd sizes in the back end.  But if I try and use them in the front end they don't exist.
How do I get the area below the set of 3 boxes to be 2 boxes?
Here is the backed after I save it.

Hello,

That is quite odd. Can you please try applying a fresh copy of the Vertex patch to be sure you are all up to date on the latest files?

OK, downloaded directly from your site.

Extracted.

FTP'd contents into theme and over wrote.

Went to template manager and tried to make 2 columns, saved and exact same thing.

Hello,

The backend is only if you want to set custom sizes for each position. If you set them to automatic you can simply publish to top_row2_1, top_row2_2, etc. and they will automatically be spaced evenly. You can publish up to six modules in each row. There is not an option to add another row.

If the settings aren't saving in your configuration there is most likely a permissions issue on your server. Trying increasing the chmod settings of vertex.json to 777 to make sure they are writable.

The permissions we set to 755.

I updated them to 777.

Went to the backend and set the positions to 2.  Saved.

And the same thing.  6 unevenly spaced positions exactly like before.

But just to be sure I went to the modules to make sure 2 were set to the same row to see how they configured.  They are stacked on top.  Not side by side.  So it is not working.

I went back and set it to Automatic.

There are 2 modules set to top_row2_1 and they are stacked on top of each other.  Not side by side.

Hello,

"There are 2 modules set to top_row2_1 and they are stacked on top of each other.  Not side by side."

That is what they should be doing, if you publish to the same position they will be on top of each other. If you publish them to top_row2_1, top_row2_2, etc. they will be side by side.

OK,

Top_row2, even though it shows in the back in the Vertex slider that there are 6 positions.

When I go into modules and pick one and look at the positions the only one that is there is position 1.  None of the other 6 are there.

Hello,

Yes, that's correct, there are 6 positions: top_row2_1, top_row2_2, top_row2_3, top_row2_4, top_row2_5, top_row2_6  that doesn't mean you have to use all of them. If you only publish to two of them then they will be automatically at 50% each. As I stated above, the backend layout page is there only if you want to set custom widths to each module in that row, so if you have two modules already published there then you would only select 2 positions from the dropdown.

I've mentioned this a couple times but didn't put up a graphic.

There are not multiple positions to choose from in row two. Just the 1 position. If the others were there I wouldn't have this issue I don't think.

You can manually type it in the box there. The positions in the drop down are just the ones currently used.
