It's not that difficult;
Go in the backend to menu > mainmenu and click on "new".
Choose overthere for component and click on "next".
Now mark in the component list "Virtuemart" and as Url "top".
I named this myself as "Home" because I want people to see this as the frontpage link.
Don't forget to save it when you're finished.
Last but not least; take care that the Virtuemart (home) link is set as order 1.
With this your frontpage will allways be the Virtuemart component.

All you have to do next is put some nice pictures at each category and your finished.

Oh that was easy. I think I'll have to play with the layout though. What about the reflections etc. of the pictures? Is that some javascript or a plugin perhaps? Thanks for your help gigabyte

It's just a picture so no javascript.
I've done this myself in Photoshop.
Just cut out a picture, copy it and put it on a nice background.
To get the mirror effect, flip another copy vertical and put it wright underneath the other image.
Further more you have to play a bit with transparancy and distortion to get the best effect.

When you google "mirror effect photoshop" (or instead another programm you use) you'll find a lot more tutorials about this subject.

Hello Bruno,

It's online, but not yet live.
I've protected it with a htaccess password, so I can work in peace.
As soon as it's ready I will post a link.

We had to edit some of the VM php files.  We have provided all the files that were edited in our downloads section.  On the eMercantilism demo we wrote a tutorial on how to implement these files:

NOTE: You need a club membership to access these files.
