I think it's a wonderful idea to have SMF template. After there are 2 possibilities, wrapped or unwrapped template.
I dream about a Bliss SMF wrapped template.  Grin

I would like to see a news paper style template. I should be easy to read. Many categories such World, Politics, Travel should be accessible from front page. Most important front page should be easily customizable. Clicking on any article gives full text as well as teasers to other articles in same category. Clicking on category on front page shows selection of articles with teasers. Articles should flow from most prominent position on front page to less prominent position and finally to the archive automatically according to some time parameter. Nice would be some sort of versioning and approval process so that several authors can work together on one story. This is sorely missing in the Joomla realm.
Ample space should be devoted to possible ad space on front page and article pages.

For reference check out: www.nyt.com, also: http://www.joomlart.com/templates_demo.php?template=ja_fagus nice work on the front end but needs more features on the back end.

I would like to see a template developed for artists, arts groups, galleries, tours etc that has Lytebox in it, user-generated color combos, accordion menus and not so much focus on written content. Like a combination of Kite Photography, Creative Edge and User Choice.  Grin

I am an artist who creates website portfolios for other artists and arts groups, and find that most of the templates available are geared toward written content, not images. And I am fairly new to Joomla but Love it so far! I think Shape5 has the best variety of templates on the web. Thanks!

Hi, do you have any examples of your portfolio work so we can get a better feel? We do agree that a lot of Joomla templates are content focused only; and we hope to change some of that.

Not sure how popular such a thing would be, but you asked!  Grin

I am working on putting together a veterinary medicine client education website. It will have both "articles" on common diseases and conditions, and a forum for people to share their animal stories and ask specific questions about the disease that their pet is suffering from.

I would like for it to have a "header" with merged pictures of examples of the different "veterinary" species of animals... dogs, cats, fuzzy pocket pets (hamster, chinchilla, white mouse, rabbit), horses, cows, birds, reptiles.

I have found only one template in several days' dedicated search, and it had a very weird transparent design for the content- it was VERY difficult to read over the nearly full-colored animals splashed around. There are templates for "safari" type interests, but, I don't think that a dog owner is going to take a second look past a lion...

Of course, it would have the capabilities that I have read mentioned on this site for the template to have a user-defined color scheme. That is the coolest feature I have seen in web design software. (Serif WebPlus has this, and it is getting me through until I can figure out Joomla! This software has a pretty steep learning curve for a fuzzy medical science- type like me!  Wink ).

Thanks for listening!
Jenn

Anyhow, I joined *just* to answer this question. I am waiting with bated breath for the "tell a friend" extension to be released in its 1.5-stable version.

There is definitely a demand for this...

There are NO hot real estate templates.  Need something that'll blow away realtor . com, fsbo . com, buyowner . com, owners . com, byowner . com and forsalebyowner . com.

One of the other clubs I belong to released one a couple months ago but it's just so so.

Not so much as for a template, yet something to be included on all future templates - a way to change the font size, and variable widths. So something like A+|A|A- and |<>| | | >||< , where A+ and |<>| would be enlarge/expand, A and | | would be restore default settings, while A- and >||< would reduce/shrink the text and screen width respectively.

The ability to adjust the text size is mainly for those with sight problems, or restricted screen real estate that wants to zoom in on an area.  The screen size would be nice as not everyone has the same size monitors. I think the smallest monitor resolution in use now days is 800x600, a common size is 1024x800, and some people (like me) use 1600x1200 (or 1200x1600) or larger. So, being able to adjust between 800x600, 1024x800, and 1280x1024 would be nice.

Just throwing in my two cents worth, before taxes, inflation, and other fees to be named. If you don't like it I do offer a refund, yet I charge a $10 processing fee along with a 15% restocking fee. Wink

Some other template clubs have released hotel/travel templates, but to be honest, these are really bad.
I hope you will give this a go. I know that there are many people interested in a template for a hotel or travel site.
Best regards and thanks for the wonderful templates!

There is a big lack of Christmas templates and Sports templates that are any good. A good Christmas template would be welcome in the Joomla world. If anyone knows where to find a Christmas template I would be happy to know.

Would love to see some more feminine templates. I am thinking salons, retail shopping, something with more of a girly touch, while still being classy.
