It's great to be a new member to shape5 first of all.

I have never wanted to pay for a registration before but I'm really glad I did. I have been looking for a way to get my new site looking great and away from the stock themes.

So far I have see after only an hour of searching that its money well worth it.

BUT!!! I have a quick question and I doubt it's going to be hard one for most of you. I though it would be an easy fix but even after a few mins of trying its a no go.

I downloaded Game Vision - October 2007 Template - 1.5 and everything is working great so far. Not only does it suit the content of what this site will be it just fits.

In the theme it shows gamevision oct 2007. It's listed as logo.png.
I created my own logo for that spot in photoshop and over wrote that file. Uploaded it to my server and overwrote that file as well. For some reason after a refresh the stock logo is still sitting there and has not been replaced.

What am I missing?

Thanks a million.

Hi,

Try deleting the file first and then uploading a new one. After that clear your cache in your browser. That should work!

Thank for the tip Mike. Unfortunately that didn't work because the the file wouldn't delete or even rename to something else.

Not sure whats going on there, no error messages or anything came up. Just didn't do anything at all so i am going to try going in threw the back-end to see if I can force the file to be removed or renamed.

Any other idea?

Well not sure whats happening but I think the file must me encoded or something no? Going through my cpanels file manager I can't even delete it or rename it. Says permission denied.  And when I do delete the file from the back end it magically reappears back in the list.

I know you must think I have lost my damn mind by I swear the damn thing just comes back. I watch it leave and head to my ftp and bang its back. I go back to my file manager and refresh the page and poof its back there too.

Crazy I tells ya!

Ok. I finally got the image to delete and all thats left is the transparent image url but the logo will not appear.

I deleted the whole theme, installed the new image into the dir and then zipped the folder again. Uploaded the zip back to Joomla and that was it.

Is there something somewhere in on of the css files that states how large the file needs to be or how small?
I'm also using firefox (only mention it because of the IE6 issues)

Sorry to be a pain like this. It's driving me nuts and I even let my pizza get cold trying to figure this out.

Thanks for understanding and for all the help.

Well now I'm a pain in the ass and I'm starting to get a little frustrated.

I have found that the only thing with the theme v1.5 that I can edit is the html and the css files. I can't update any images in the direct. I figured since I couldn't get the logo to replace the original image that I would just edit the bg image and upload that to the server. That's not working either from my ftp or my file manager for cpanel.

Without coming off like a jerk because thats not how I am, I paid to join the site for this theme alone and it's kind of pointless if I can't edit the layout to suit my site.

If someone has some ideas that would be great.
I'm at a stand still.

Thanks a bunch

Ha.. you can delete this thread if you like.

Problem solved by my hosting company.

"it's because some were created via a script - there is an ownership issue. I've fixed it please try"

From what I gather there was a script involved when I installed the theme that prevented any changes. Could have been isolated to just me but after asking my tech support if there was something I could do on my end to fix this he said no.

May have been server side and not a theme issue.
I did CHMOD most of my dirs in that theme and that didn't work so I guess if others have the same issue then this would be your only option is to contact your host.

Hi,

I was just about to respond and say it was probably a permission problem with your host. There's no installed script with the template your host probably just had extra security measures. Glad it's working for you now!

I always have to contact my host when ever I install a new module or component or even a new template as Joomla creates uploaded things to be owned by "nobody".

So if you want to change anything in the component or module in the backend you need to tell your host to change any folders owned by "nobody" to be owned by you and then you can change chmod permissions and change and save files etc.

Its a pain, I agree, but thats the way it is.

Cheers
