My website (www.shamrockshirts.com.au) is currently set up with eshopper and the old version of joomla.  I want to change over to the new corporate vertex template.

My plan is to create a folder on my website called vertexsite, then build the new website there (so I can take my time with the new one, will probably take me months to complete).  When I'm ready to change over, I'll simply move this folder over to replace the current website files.

But, my question is, when setting up the site shaper for corporate, do I need to create a new database and user for this or is it okay to use the current database and user?  I don't want to stuff up my website.

Thanks.

Hello,

If you're going from 1.5 to 2.5 then you would need to use JUpgrade to do this. That component will create an entirely new database, and copy over as much data as it can, including content and users. Once that's done, you can simply install the new template and set it as default.
