I've been around Joomla and it's extensions for a long time now and belong to mant tempolate clubs. I joined Shape 5 last week as I had a Salon type site to get up and running for a customer in a hurry and thought the new Salon n Spa template would fit the bill nicely.

Boy I wish I'd done my homework first instead of rushing in to it.
I don't think I've come across a template and bunch of extensions so difficult to modify.
Simple things like as follows:

Phone number/Opening hours are hard coded and not in a module (in fact there are no module positions above the logo except for the drop down)

Social icons are hard coded (Id like them at top of page but no module positions available)

Reservation Module - No option to change to 12hr format. For the type of template it is it should be 12hr (Who wants to book a haircut at 2 in the morning! very confusing for customers)
Also no option to change date format (I think the US is only country to use the month/.day/year format)

Image and Content fader - Title doesn't collapse to bottom of module when thumbnails are turned off. Instead it bounces up mand down obscuring the image and generally annoys the heck out me.

Spotlight News - Title and font settings in backend don't show on frontend

Double ups of module folders - One set in normal Module folders and another in template/html folder - why??

I know it's my fault for not checking these things out properly before I bought a subscription but sometimes one just doesn't have the time. I think it's time the coders took a good look at some of the extensions as the same problems seem to be raised time after vtime in the forums.
The standard reply seem to be "Hire a coder for custom work" I feel the simple things I've noted above should be standard and no extra coding should be needed apart from a bit of css - (but which one of the css files should one edit there are 2 copies in different folders!)

I've wasted 2 days trying to get the tempolate to look the way I want and I'm ready to give up and use something else.
I've pretty much dropped all the shape 5 extensions and used 3rd party ones which I feel I shouldn't have to do!!

Anyway that's my 2 cents worth.

And I've also just notice that the "template specific" page in the demo is quite different to the actual template settings
eg: dark or light, Google +, Highlight colors, Uppercase etc etc
None of these as well as othersb appear as options in my templates parameters

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear you are having problems, however I have still moved your post because it contained no pre-sales questions.

The items you are mentioning are mostly part of the template configuration which is fully explained on our demo, none of which is hard coded into the template and can be easily updated in the interface:

http://www.shape5.com/demo/salon_n_spa/index.php/features-mainmenu-47/template-specific-features

Any specific questions you have please post in the Salon and Spa forum board or the board of the extension that you are using so we can address specific questions.

Also, we do not provide customizations to products. Our support is for the core products only.
