I am trying to figure out the best shopping cart for Joomla 2.5. I've not used any before. I've looked at several reviews on the extensions.joomla.org, but I cannot figure out the best one.

I like Virtumart, but it would seem I need something more iron clad. I don't mind paying for it, but ease of use and frond-end "slick-factor" (visual appeal and options) is important.

Any help with details would be great!

Chris

Did you check out redshop?  I haven't dug too deep into redshop but when setting up shopping bag demo with it and stylizing it, seems like a pretty good ecommerce component.

i have tested and worked with virtuemart, tienda, hikashop and redshop.....also there are bridges for other  cart sripts

However, lets focus on native joomla solutions.

In my expirience Virtuemart is the best free joomla cart, as well as Tienda, but Tienda needs to mature a bit more than it is now. When you need a freelancer for virtuemart, you will find them everywhere, that is a big plus.

Redshop is very powerful, but a bit pricier,...to me personally very daunting to maintain, and bit heavy script....built on old Virtuemart core, but improved in every possible way.....low flexibility from support on forum, but lots of joomlers use it.

Hikashop is powerful as well, especially Business edition, very straight forward, has much better price than RedShop, and their forum support is very good....i am surprised why isn't this cart more popular among Joomla community.

Other non joomla option could be Prestashop and Opencart.

I didn't check out RedShop until you said something. I wish I could figure out why a few users give it such a bad review. It is about $315 if you want tech support for 12 months. Seems a bit steep to go out on a limb for. They also don't integrate with our processor yet, so I'd have to see if they would help with that. I'm also trying to get a better idea of some layout and visual options. I can only find one generic demo site for RedShop. They are now at least a contender now that you brought it to my attention.

What do you think of AceShop Jonah (or anyone else)?
