I notice on your site shapers you have an option to "migrate" from a Joomla 1.0 site. I have such a need, but the 1.0 site has community builder and xoom gallery data in the db. Will the site shaper "migrator" move that data over in a useable form even though the installer will not have installed CB or xoom?

Joomla 1.0 to 1.5.x

Thanks.

If you do the migration you won't get any of the site shaper data.  You have to either choose install sample data, which would get your site looking like our demo.  Or if you went the migration route then it would be all the data currently in your 1.0.x site.

I have successfully used the 1.0 --> 1.5 migrator tool on other sites.  However, I joined Shape5 several weeks ago and have installed a couple of Site Shapers in order to tinker around and learn about the various modules.

If I now migrate my existing 1.0 sites to the Site Shaper installations, I will lose all the Site Shaper modules as well as the sample data described above.

Do you have a recommendation for quickly restoring the Site Shaper modules -- perhaps an SQL restore of selected tables? -- after my content is migrated?

I hope I'm asking this question sensibly, because I am not a Joomla or SQL guru.

If you just want to install few modules on an existing site that you may have migrated, the easiest way to do so is to just to install the modules individually as this only takes a few minutes.

This is true, but I'm not a read-and-do learner.  I have to learn by watching or doing.  I need to see the modules already set up, then I can tweak them to do what I want.

Y'all have great support for your excellent modules, but I've discovered I can't find a link anywhere on the Shape5 site that goes to Tutorials.  All I've found is you have to go first to the demo of a template, then click on a link to the bit you want to use.

Is there a simpler way?

For example, I have an implementation of User Choice at http://clarionupgrade.tnhillbillie.net/ -- and I've migrated content from a 1.0 site.

  • I can't figure out how to make the S5 Tab Show work properly (either the tabs or the content, even though I've published the appropriate modules to the Tab Show positions I added to the .xml file).
  • I can't figure out how to make the Tools button be the same style as the RSS Feeds, About This Site, and Bookmark This Site buttons.
  • I can't figure out how to make index.php stop appearing in the URL's for all the links.
  • I can't figure out how to make the menu across the top of the content area use the Suckerfish options -- do I have to put sub-menu items there first?

I'd be extremely grateful for assistance, so I can expand on the knowledge I would gain and then venture off to learn other things!
