: Basics: Does it use Mootools 1.1? SimAnswers mootools issues? : randymac February 17, 2010, 01:38:35 AM Does the Basics template use and depend on Mootools 1.1? How can I disable this if only the menus depend on it?
I very much like the Basics template and installed it tonight because of issues with another template that could not be resolved. So far everything has been changed over very smoothly with the Basics template, and then I tried to get SimBunch Sim Answers ( a component my site needs) to work. No go, because the Basics template must call and use Mootools 1.1 and Sim Answers needs Mootools 1.2. Therefore I can't ask questions with Sim Answers component until I disable the Mootools 1.1 on the Basics template. Is anyone else using SimAnswers component with Shape5 Basics template? If so, can you post the fix information. Otherwise I will sort through the SimAnswers Forum tomorrow and find a way to fix it, and then post it here for others, if they plan to use Basics and SimAnswers. Any tips for a quicker fix appreciated! RandyMac : Re: Basics: Does it use Mootools 1.1? Joomla itself will mootools 1.1 and almost 80% of it's pages and it shares that same file with the modules. If your component is using 1.2 this is not a correct implementation of the script. Joomla includes 1.1 so that it does not conflict with many modules and components calling the same script, rather it can share it. If this component is calling 1.2 it will cause errors with joomla directly as well. This is an issue you would need to take up with the developer of the component. I believe Joomla 1.6 is coming with 1.2 built in but I am not positive.

I agree that it would be so much easier if the Mootools 1.1 and 1.2 conflict didn't exist, but SimAnswers does exactly what I need, and there is a way to make it work. I just needed to know if the Basics template uses Mootools 1.1, and now that I know it does not, I can find a way to make things work by turning off conflicting modules etc, or less importance to my site needs. Thanks again. I really like the Basics template and think it will serve my site needs well. Randy McCallum ChamberVoice.com : Re: Basics: Does it use Mootools 1.1? SimAnswers mootools issues? : mikek February 17, 2010, 09:24:21 PM Hello, I am sorry that but that is something you would need to confront the developer of the component. As I said before, joomla itself pulls mootools.js into several pages despite what template is being used and it will cause issues.
