: Design ruined in IE8 - not local problem -
: pierodela July 27, 2010, 09:41:06 AM
I have just installed city portal and  while in firefox works fine  in IE8 menu and main div are misaligned. It also works perfect in chrome but with IE8...no way. Could you please fix it?

I have tested in several machines (everybody I asked to check it in IE8 told me design was ruined)

Thank you in advance.

Hello,

If you run IE8 here do you still have the same problem?

Yes design and menu are still misaligned but now "stack overflow" is at line:177  :o

What could it be?  :-\

Try disabling the tooltips script in your template admin area.

Tooltips already disabled (set to "no") but this does not fix the problem.

Maybe it has to be made some CSS hacks specific for IE8??

It really sounds like something is up with your browser or browsers you are checking the site in.  I also don't receive this error when viewing your site in any browser.

Hello all.    I have  exactly the same error here.   Misaligned and the news, events, attractions tabs also do not seem to work in Internet explorer.

Works fine in firefox and googlechrome,  but  mine is also like the original posters, with the misalignments etc...

This is a new windows 7 dell laptop too, and this error also appears on older , pc's, laptops... with IE .

So what is causing this ?  We have to solve this one.. as I'm building a website for my local community and youth support etc..  :)   well, and it needs to be resolved anyhow !

thanks in advance.

I have even changed the background to plain white to try to "get away with it"  but I'd really like the backgrounds to render as per demo's ...

I'm in Scotland UK, I note the pierodela is Spain, so it's not a European IE browser difference / problem or something is it ? Just a wild guess don't put too much weight on that  :)

Hello again.   Right, I just opened up IE 8  for the first time on another reconditioned pc that we acquired a couple months back, running xp, and IE  8,  now  as it loaded for the first time (as we have used firefox on it since we got it)  I ignored any extras it suggested etc, and ran it with the basic configuration.

Now that displays my site correctly with no errors in internet explorer 8 !

Hop skippity dawg I thought  :D,  so what is casusing this on my other machines ?  especially this new dell job thats only a few weeks old ....

So I thought I would report back to add my experience into the mix here.

So I still need to know why it causing errors, but I am going to put my preferred background back on, as it must be a local issue , but what is it ?  It seems a common one, and maybe its an update thing on IE 8 or something .....

But anyhow, i'll still be trying to fix it my side for my other machines and if i find out what it is I'll report back. And by all means if any of you guys have any ideas or twig it, let us know.

Bye for now....

 :)

pierodela,  if you would like me to  have a look at your website from my other machine to see how it looks, then by all means pop your link up.  All is not lost maybe ?  We just need to resolve the puzzle on how come some machines and not others ?

maybe something that's updated in IE 8  that creates it ?   I don't know at this stage mind....

toodlepip !

 :)

Hello,

Thanks for the updates and experience, please let us know if you find a resolution to this, every once in while we get a report of this but have yet to reproduce it.  It must be some sort of configuration setting or perhaps a odd ball version of IE
