Shape 5

I'm working on a major project which will use Joomla 1.6. I also want to use the "Basics" template for this site.

Can you offer a best guess regarding when Shape 5 templates will be made compatible with Joomla 1.6?

Best guess, perhaps a few weeks?  Thats no guarantee.  After the template release this Saturday they will be coming out a lot faster.

We will most likely be starting from the most recent ones first, but don't quote me on that :)

We will be adding a page that tracks the conversion of each template shortly.

I have the Game_Crusade  and would like to upgrade my joomla to 1.6.
Will the patched Game_Crusade files be down-loadable or will I be required to re-subscribe to be able to download the updated 1.6  files?

You will need to have a current club membership to access any updates. Product downloads are discontinued when a membership expires.

One thing to keep in mind with this is that some of us have invested a lot of hours in a given template or templates, in my case Kite Photography, Forever Ace, Eden Rock, Duo Plate, and to have to move to another template for 1.6 support would be inconvenient to say the least. It would also be a real shame as some of the earlier templates have a very nice feel to them.

I love your work but 1.6 is something a lot of us have been waiting for various projects and a lot will move forward, I'm sure like me the're testing now, so when you get to it rebuilding these for 1.6 would be greatly appreciated.

I think you may well be waiting a while. I'd imagine to modify, test, and repackage all of the templates and extensions will take some time. These guys have their work cut out for them.

You can expect to see 1.6 templates soon. We are just figuring out some minor script changes. We'll be starting with our most recent templates and working down from there. We do plan to convert all of our templates to 1.6.

What significant features will break with the templates if we upgrade to 1.6?

Mostly the plugins that came with the template  if it hasnt been updated
