To setup dropdown menu items all you need to do is assign a menu item to a parent menu item. For example if you want "links" to dropdown under a main level link called "home". Simply open up the links admin and you will have the option to assigned it to a "parent item" menu link, so just click on home and it will become highlighted, then just save and you should now have a drop down of links when you hover over the home button.
