I have just started a new Wordpress hosted blog and I would like to put Google ads on the pages but I can't find a plugin that can do this. How this this work or can you suggest a template that has Adwords included.

I guess you mean Adsense instead of Adwords  ;D

When you search the list of google adsense plugins you may also want to consider google adsense dashboard. This is a cool little plugin that enbales you to see your adsense earnings in your wordpress dashboard.

As far as I know, the Wordpress.com hosted blogs will not have access to some of the monetization plugins that self-hosted blogs will.

Easy AdSense is also a very good, featurerich plugin.
