: Site Shaper Installation problems
: alexius December 20, 2011, 04:45:52 AM
I am posting this in the General section - since I am having the problem with a number of templates - tried Sienna, Callie Rush and still have the same problems.
I have used Site shaper in older versions of Joomla with no problems in the past.
I have tried to install 1.7 site shapers - and have problems the minute I install content. I get errors - and then cannot login into admin afterwards.
Everything goes smoothly until I add the sample content. I get errors - I continue - and then cannot login to the administrator.
Check the screenshots for examples.
I have contacted my host - and they see not problem - they say the problem is with the scripts associated with the content.
If I install not using sample content - I do not have problem. But I want the advantage of the populated modules and content - it speeds up the development a lot.
Do you have any suggestions?
Current problem domain - www.cooperhealey.co.za/
Regards
Lex

Hello,

I replied back to you in private message regarding this over a week ago. Please check your messages if you not already.

There is an issue with your server's mysql installation. The code that is not inserting your server is saying is not valid, but it is valid, and has been tested on multiple servers, and is standard joomla table structure. We have also had no other reports of this happening.

Your host will need to correct this as it relates directly to your server. The only thing it's not importing is the user information table, and that's why all other content loads.

In my private message I supplied the sql import that needs to run. Have your host try to import this, and they will see the error is on their side.

I have a Joomla! site and decided to try Sienna template.  When I uploaded the template... no problem.  When I uploaded the Site Shaper, it crashed my website.  It has been down two days... I have been dealing with my hosting co.  Blue Host, who now tells me it is Shape5 problem.  Here is text of their email to me:
Hello, thank you for contacting support.

I'm sorry I wasn't able to find the cause of the problem. I was able to get this error when running the index page through the command line but your site might function differently that way.  Fatal error:  Class 'JRequest' not found in /home7/dickins5/public_html/libraries/joomla/session/session.php on line 453
I would suggest contacting the developers of what you installed to see if they might have some solutions for you or you could check on the joomla forums for steps on fixing or a solution.

Hello,

This:

/dickins5/public_html/libraries/joomla/session/session.php

Is not a shape5 file. It is part of the core joomla CMS. You would need to check on joomla.org as this relates directly to the CMS and not shape5 template files.

So now you think it is a Joomla file problem.  I'm not as smart as you, but I know this:  My site worked fine until I responded to a Shape5 ad and purchased the Sienna template and Site Shaper (which your site said would work fine with my version of Joomla). I uploaded your files.  I followed your instructions exactly (which had no mention of this potential problem).  As soon as I uploaded your files, my site crashed:  first, a 404 message, then, "infinite loop detected in JEffor".  My host -- Blue Host -- says I must contact you for a solution; you say it is a Blue Host or Joomla problem... see them; Meanwhile, I can't get into the front or back of my site.  If I sound frustrated and a little angry, I suppose I am.  It's not so much that you don't seem to know how to help me... it's more that you don't seem to care.  I have lost a lot of money and time because of this problem.  You must be the owner of Shape5, to be able to get away with snubbing a new customer like this.

Hello,

I'm sorry if that came across the wrong way, but the error message you posted is not one from our files, it relates directly to the joomla files.

From the sounds of it you have tried to install a site shaper into an existing joomla installation. As per our tutorial:

http://www.shape5.com/demo/sienna/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=39&Itemid=89

A site shaper is a complete installation of joomla. It must be installed into a new database and empty folder. It cannot be installed into an existing joomla installation. It is a complete installation and will over-write any existing data or files with the site shaper files.

If you have simply installed the template installation itself through the extensions manager in joomla, there are no files that could effect the login functionality of joomla packaged with the template. Installing a template simply extracts the files to the templates folder on your server, and it does not interact with the core files of joomla.

Because I can go to my account at Blue Host and view my files from my original Joomla installation, I do not think you are correct.  I do not think the Site Shaper files replaced my database files, but maybe they did.  In any case, I installed Site Shaper per your site's instructions, and got no warning that it would not install as a separate datebase (which is what I expected it to do).  So what can I do now?

: Re: Site Shaper Installation problems
: mikek December 29, 2011, 01:32:57 PM
Hello,

If you did not upload this to an empty folder then all your previous files were over-written in the extraction. This is why this we state this in the tutorial:

NOTE: if you already have a website in the root of your WWW folder, we suggest creating a new folder and extract the site shaper there.

At the final step of the installation there is a button to install the sample data. If you set your configuration to point to the existing database, rather than a new one as stated in the tutorial, then your previous database information would be over-written. If you created a new database or did not click the button then your old database is still in tact.

As per the tutorial we state that you need to create a new database, and not use an existing one:

Next create a new database user and assign it to this newly created database in the previous step

If you have uploaded the files to a folder that was not empty, and extracted the site shaper there then you have over-written all of your existing files. You would need to contact your host to see if they have a backup of the files. Most hosts keep several weeks worth of backups.

As I told you before, I folloed the intstructions exactly.  I created a new database canned Shape5; I created a new user:  Jess; I then attached the new user name to the new database, and proceeded.  The files in my Blue Host database RIGHT NOW are my original joomla files, not your shaper files, so I don't think the shaper files over wrote my files.  And even if they did, why wouldn't I be able to use shaper?

: Re: Site Shaper Installation problems
: mikek December 29, 2011, 02:29:54 PM
Hello,

If you extracted the files from the site shaper into the root of your server where you existing site is then you have in fact over-written your old files. What version of joomla was your existing installation running? And which version of Sienna's site shaper did you upload; 1.5 or 1.7?

Once the extraction happens on your server it will over-write any files on your server with the new ones. If you are running two different versions of joomla this would mix the files. This is why the site shaper should be uploaded into an empty folder.

To the OP,

If the following error is the same that you're seeing during the Sienna install, I've got the same issue. If I continue past step 6 when the error pops up as the install script attempts to load the new db with sample content, I can't login to admin after the install.

Error
Some errors occurred while populating the database: Table 'sb_joomla.a4mf0_usergroups' doesn't exist SQL=-- -- Dumping data for table `a4mf0_usergroups` -- INSERT INTO `a4mf0_usergroups` (`id`, `parent_id`, `lft`, `rgt`, `title`) VALUES (1, 0, 1, 16, 'Public'), (2, 1, 6, 13, 'Registered'), (3, 2, 7, 12, 'Author'), (4, 3, 8, 11, 'Editor'), (5, 4, 9, 10, 'Publisher'), (6, 1, 2, 5, 'Manager'), (7, 6, 3, 4, 'Administrator'), (8, 1, 14, 15, 'Super Users')
_____________________________________________________________

the '_usergroups' table does not exist in my brand new db install, and I followed the instructions to the T. Mike, could this be a script issue? As pointed out in a similar thread, I can install the vanilla non-shape 5 joomla 1.7.3 package with zero issue during or after installation. All things being equal in my case, the issue seems to 'clearly' point to your install package script. Please advise...

I have a problem with the installation of the template "campus_life", previously install the template without problems and create a site in root, however I am now trying to create another site with the same template and in the same hosting, to do so copy the installer and I unzip in a new folder but when trying to access index.php by browser I simply can not as if the file did not exist, the browser does not locate the file, can you help me with this?

Hello,

If the file is there and it says it doesn't exist that is most likely a permissions or ownership issue on your server. I would suggest contacting your host to see why your server won't read that file.

Hi, shape5' team. My english now very well, but I think, that people will understood me.
Use shape5' ones about 2 days, but understand, why the site is beginning to freeze after 2, 3 hours after install.
My test machine:
Ubuntu server 14.04.3 and all last updates for apache, php, mysql.
The shape, that I'd download and install, is going with Charlestown template. I had download it from Charlestown page as shape one (with joomla environment).
Create directory for.
:
site=charlestown
mkdir /home/ftp/$site
useradd $site -g web-developers -p 111 -d /home/ftp/$site -s /usr/sbin/nologin
chown $site:web-developers /home/ftp/$site
mkdir /home/ftp/$site/$site
chown -R $site:web-developers /home/ftp/$site
mkdir /var/www/$site
chown -R $site:web-developers /var/www/$site
passwd $site
there's I add pass. ok.
:
vim /etc/fstab
...
/home/ftp/charlestown/charlestown       /var/www/charlestown    none    bind    0    0
..
:
mount -a
ok
chmod -w /home/ftp/$site
lftp [email protected]
test ok
copy shape' root into [email protected]/charlestown/
ok
add temp permissions for installer
chown -R $site:web-developers /home/ftp/$site
chmod -R 777 /var/www/$site
Add mysql db as charlestowndb alias and user charlestown, as alias, in charlestowndb. ok. grant all permissions for charlestown user in charlestowndb.
run installer as go to http://192.168.9.26/charlestown/ with safari.
set admin user alias and pass. set mysql user alias (charlestown) and pass, mysql db alias (charlestowndb) and pass and going next. The shape had installed and all're ok.
I go to control panel of that joomla, set time to europe/moscow, set time to live for session in cp and go site. All're working.
be close permissions
:
find /var/www/$site -type d -print0 | xargs -0 chmod 0755
find /var/www/$site -type f -print0 | xargs -0 chmod 0644
check site again. ok. I can going there.

After (about 3 hours) a go that site again. The home page was beginning about a minute or two. Than I go to server and check logs. tail /var/log/apache2/error.log was nothing saying me.
tail /var/log/apache2/access.log
:
192.168.9.2 - - [04/Feb/2017:14:31:01 +0300] "GET /charlestown/templates/charlestown/images/loading-bar-black.gif HTTP/1.1" 304 180 "http://192.168.9.26/charlestown/" "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_11_6) AppleWebKit/602.3.12 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/10.0.2 Safari/602.3.12"
::1 - - [04/Feb/2017:14:31:09 +0300] "OPTIONS * HTTP/1.0" 200 125 "-" "Apache/2.4.7 (Ubuntu) PHP/5.5.9-1ubuntu4.20 mod_scgi/1.13 OpenSSL/1.0.1f (internal dummy connection)"

What must I watch else? can somebody saying? the home page of shape is loading about 1 or 2 minutes. very long time.

And yes! If I delete db and siteroot. After it, be make all again (install etc), so I watch, that site is working fine. After 3 hours I will watch problem again.

Recently installed site shaper for Arthur. Had a glitch on installation (same problem I had installing another siteshaper a few weeks ago, but my host resolved it) with the page 2 install details. I'm guessing a specific database name was required by my host. This second round, I'm getting an error message on the backend that says:
JFolder: :files: Path is not a folder. Path: /home/(databasename)/public_html/CD/libraries/fof/config/domain

My host is saying that I need to do a complete reinstall but I'm thinking they don't quite understand the site shaper installation concept, though I've tried to explain it.

Do you have any thoughts on the matter before I go ahead and do a complete reinstall? (I've made only a couple changes, so I could easily start again. But my real desire is to move forward on my project.)

Michael

Hello,

I have not seen that error before, but my guess would be it's an ownership or permissions issue on the server, I doubt that it's related to the database. I did find the following, but there isn't much posted about it:

https://www.joomshaper.com/forums/jfolder-files-path-is-not-a-folder-path

I would also suggest checking on joomla.org's forum boards and post there if you find nothing. This pertains directly to the CMS itself so they may be able to offer more specific direction on this error.
