: Photofolio Siteshaper menus missing and IE9 issues

Just having some major issues getting started with one particular theme ? Photofolio (wordpress), it seems that it displays ?ok? under Chrome & Firefox (With some pages missing like the photoblog and S5 menu? etc ? is this normal?, as under your demo site they are not missing) but under IE9 or higher the main box to display photos on the front page doesn?t display at all! and is missing?

It seems others in the shape5 forum are also experiencing the IE9 and above issues and wondered if you could point me in the right direction - as you have managed to get it working perfectly on the demo and that is the main reason I upgraded my Joomla membership to get the wordpress version?

The "pages missing" problem is an issue with how WP permalinks work.  All you need to do to fix it is go to the "Settings -> Permalinks" area in WP Admin and hit "Save" to regenerate the .htaccess file needed to have URLs function correctly.

Can you provide a URL so I can see the issue with the image slider?

Hi Tristan, I have PM you the site, I have also done the changes and the menus have returned, however the photo box and also the "Drop me a line" menu on the front page also seems to be not working.

Thank you.

I got your PM, I'm looking at the sites now, but I'll have to look closer tomorrow as I have a busy evening that I can't postpone.  I'm not sure why yours isn't functioning correctly when the demo is working fine, but it probably has something to do with the way IE handles javascript.

Would you be willing to provide login (and possibly FTP) information as well, so I can poke around in the code and try swapping JS files to see if it's a problem with the javascript?

Hi Tristan,

I have PM'd and emailed you through the details that you required.  Please let me know if you have any issues.

Thank you.

Thanks you for the information, I will be looking at your site today and will hopefully at a minimum have an idea of a solution by the end of the day.

It appears that the problem was with the version of mootools that the theme uses, when I upgraded mootools, everything started working.  I'll have to go through all the older downloads & update the mootools version, but thanks for the opportunity to use your site to find the problem.

EDIT:  Looks like I still need to figure out what's wrong with "Quick Contact", but it looks like the demo may be having problems with that one too.  You may want to actually consider Contact Form 7 (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/contact-form-7/) as an alternative - it's a much more powerful solution, and you can actually customize the form well beyond what Quick Contact can do.

Tristan,

Thank you for the suggestion of the Contact form 7 is seems to be working okay at the moment, my biggest problem now is that I am unable to edit any of the Vertex menus, just a simple change like putting in the correct twitter link - it seems that is unable to save - although Firefox does say that the settings are saved, and there is also no error messages, I have reset all the file attributes and also tried with multiple internet browsers, any idea?  If you would like to log in and have a look at what I am referring to - I believe you still have the site details.

Essentially I just want to edit / delete some of the menus and the links.

Thank you

I was able to get the theme options to start saving, but I had to set the attributes of the json file to 777.  Your server seems to be preventing WP from being able to make any file changes without either FTP or "777" permissions.

For the menus, the theme defaults to using the page structure of the site, but if you create a custom menu and set the "Theme Location" to use it, you'll be able to customize.
