: "Unwritable" template CSS
: jhinkens November 15, 2008, 01:50:58 PM
I had to restore my site from a backup after it blew up during the installation of an extension.  After the restore, I noticed the template_css.css was Unwritable.  I'm a newbie to Joomla but I don't remember this from before. Shouldn't it be "Writable"?  Also, shouldn't the file name be "template.css"? Without the added "_css"? I did a minor edit on the template previously to increase the area for the logo. No problems with that edit.

Thanks,
Joe

Hey Joe,

Joomla requires you to use the underscore for template.css so thats why its named this way.  You can try editing and see if it works, sometimes it will.  If not then you have to change the file permissions on your server.  You can use an FTP client to to this.  CHMOD them to 755 or 777 if this doesn't work.

Regards,

Yes, I tried editing the file and it saves just fine, even with the label "unwritable".  So all is good.
Thanks,
Joe
