: URL filled with unwanted information
: STE March 11, 2013, 10:35:26 PM
I just updated to Vertex2.3 on a multilingual site and noticed that my URLs are filled with some unwanted information (in bold):

http://scitechedit.colemanesolutions.office-on-the.net/ja/com-j2xml-menu-cpanel/com-j2xml-menu-website/services-jp/free-editing-jp.html

I imported my articles from a Joomla1.5 site using j2xml, but how do I get rid of these j2xml references?  Also, I've had to give all my alias' a language specific tag (e.g. services-jp) to avoid creating a duplicate alias error.   Is there a way to avoid making a distinct alias for each menu item given that I have four languages with identical menu structures?

I was using an external url with a hash tag for the parent menu items to avoid them being clickable, but changed to text separator as suggested in another post (http://www.shape5.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,75/topic,28167.new/topicseen,1/#new (http://www.shape5.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,75/topic,28167.new/topicseen,1/#new)).  After changing to the text separator I noticed the jx2ml insertions in the url, prior to that a hidden alias (e.g., prices-4) was used.

Thanks for your help!

Hello,

The URLs are generally controlled by the Joomla Menu Alias' not the Template. I would suggest clearing the alias' and re-saving them to make sure they are copied over correctly. Do you have SEF URLs and URL Rewriting Enabled?

Also make sure your imported articles have a "Created By" user as sometimes copying them over leaves it blank. Also try clearing the cache and expired cache from the Maintenance tab.
