Hello -
Trying to install Siena template and not getting past the database handshake.

Can you tell me where to find the wp-config.php file to check the login info.

Thanks,
John

The wp-config.php file is located in the root of your WordPress install.

I see the wp-config-sample.php file but not the wp-config.php.

When I look into the wp-config-sample.php file, it has the right database info, but still can't make the connection.

Thanks,
John

If you are missing the wp-config.php file, then you either didn't finish going through the installation process, or the installer failed to copy the sample file as the real one.

If your database already has content, and the wp-config-sample.php file appears to have the correct information, just duplicate the file and name it "wp-config.php".  If your database is empty, then you'll need to go through the standard Wordpress installation process.

My first attempt at uploading it worked fine, but I placed it on the wrong directory. I deleted it and have been trying to re-install with no luck.

I deleted the database and created a new one to make sure it was empty and still can't get through.

I just renamed the sample config to wp-config.php and instead got a huge bold font message.

ERROR ESTABLISHING DATABASE CONNECTION.

I've tried re-uploading at least five times.

By standard Wordpress installation, do you mean upload the regular WP and then put the siteshaper over it?

Thanks,
John

If your host has a WP auto-installer, just use that; when it's installed, just upload the shaper & overwrite anything it tells you to.

Once that's done, log in and activate the "Sample Data Injector" plugin and refresh the page a couple times.  That will wipe the database and replace it with the demo content.

Yup - That did it.
