: S5 Register and ReCaptcha (or any other thing like it)
: megmeyer May 14, 2013, 10:13:42 AM
I'm not sure if this is a Basics template problem, or and S5 Register module/S5 Box problem. I have followed the instructions found here: http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?p=2322866, and it sometimes works, but sometimes does not. It seems to work whenever I try to register, but spammers are still registering, and (therefore) able to post spam on my forums.

Is there any intention of making ReCaptcha work well with the register module? It is becoming a pretty big issue for me, and I have a very small site. I have to ban 3-5 users every day. (the posts are not going to the public because I have moderation enabled - that is a different pain in the butt)

Thanks,

Meg Meyer

Hello,

Is your site actually forcing and checking verification from ReCaptcha before allowing user registration? If you want to have Captcha you will need to use the standard Joomla Register Form instead of the S5 Register Extensions with the S5 Box popup.

Adding Captcha to the S5 Register Extension is something we are considering for the future.

I tried forcing it, (following a couple of posts in different areas) but it is not working (at least not consistently). I would urge you to add this ability sooner rather than later. The lack of verification is causing lots of headaches. I will see about going back to standard Joomla register/login, but I have to admit, I really liked the S5 box method!

Thanks for the reply - sorry I didn't respond sooner.

Hello,

All new version of Vertex offer a redirection URL for pages that require captcha. You can post your suggestion in our suggestions forums as well so our developers can see all our users that are looking for similar features.

I unpublished S5 Box, and S5 Register, and put Login (standard Joomla 2.5 login) enabled, and in the login position, but it is not working. (when you click on it, nothing happens) Is there something else I need to do to make it work with just the standard login?

Site is www.nediv.com.

Thanks!
