: Main page content formatting getting lost
: chesinc June 20, 2013, 04:42:42 PM
Hi,

The page content for the menus/pages installed by the SiteShaper display fine.  However, if I create a new WordPress page and add a few paragraphs of content, the front-end display fails to show the usual WordPress page formatting.

Specifically, you can normally type in the "Visual" tab of the WordPress page editor, and if you hit "enter", then the content will get wrapped in <p> tags when it's displayed on the front-end.  This doesn't seem to be happening at all with the Compassion theme.

The SiteShaper content displays correctly, but I see that paragraphs are being separated by
elements instead of wrapped in <p> tags.  This is true on the Shape5 Compassion theme demo page, too.

That's bad enough.  But, as I mentioned above, when I create a new page with line breaks in the "visual" editing tab of a WordPress page, *nothing* is getting inserted.  So all of the paragraphs just run together on the front-end display.

In comparing a pre-made SiteShaper page to a new page I'm creating, I can't see *any* formatting difference in the WordPress backend page editing view.  Yet somehow the SiteShaper page is being displayed on the front end with
breaks, and my new pages are not.

Any idea what's going on or how to fix it?

Many Thanks,

Andrew

On the "Advanced" tab of the theme admin, disable "RAW HTML mode"; that mode disables the WP auto-formatting that can occasionally break validation on the demos.

That worked.  Thank you.

By the way, there is still a bug in the theme admin, even after you guys fixed the obvious CSS problem last week.

Specifically, if I click on the up/down arrows to the right of a yes/no field, I get a little "busy" icon showing up in the form field, but nothing else.  It took me a bit of lucky looking around to discover that if I scroll down in the browser, the "yes" / "no" options will appear in the very bottom/left of the window.  Not that I know that, it's workable, but I'm sure that's not your intent!

More important continuing bugs with the theme admin:  No field at all appears for "Enable Font Resizer?", "Show or Hide Main Menu?", "Enable or Disable Mobile Device Layout?" or "Third Party Styles?".  Basically, the top row on several admin pages has no changeable field displayed.

Thanks for the heads up.  I've let Dave know, but I'm also going to be working on making a patch available to upgrade older Vertex releases to the new admin, which will hopefully fix any of those bug as well as transitioning everything to jQuery from mootools.
