Anybody get Virtuemart working on Limelight?  I keep getting the error "JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find Joomla XML setup file"

Search indicates that I am trying to install the wrong version of Virtuemart - like for Joomla 2.5 and not 3.0.  Is there an extension, plugin, or module that is working on the Limelight templates that will install and run Virtuemart on Joomla 3.0.

If so, where?

VirtueMart is *really* wonky on Joomla 3.x right now.
You can jump through hoops to try and force it to install but some bits work, some bits don't, unpredictably.

The VirtueMart devs have stated that they won't release a VM version with full Joomla 3 compatibilty until J3.5[LTS] ships.
(presumably so that they aren't always chasing a moving goalpost keeping track of each early 3.x version that will only be supported for a few months)

So if you really want a VirtueMart site for the time being, until March 2014-ish anyway, your best bet is to install Joomla 2.5

That's the route I went myself recently with S5 Lime Light template on http://87.106.124.7/joomla-new/
Joomla v2.5.13, VirtueMart v2.0.22
(The VirtueMart part is being used just as a catalogue in the Products section)

*Supposedly* the current J2.5+ series of releases should be a simple click-to-upgrade process when VM eventually have a J3 compatible VirtueMart and you want to pull the trigger on upgrading the CMS core to J3.5+

Thanks.  Granted, not what I wanted to hear, but at least I know what I'm dealing with.  Is there a decent shopping cart running on 3.0?  I am not suggesting that virtuemart is good (or bad for that matter) but I had it running on 2,5.  That is really all I care about.  What are suggestions for shopping carts on Limelight Joomla 3.0... or do I need to go back to 2.5?

Apparently MijoShop comes highly recommended for use on J3.x

Can't speak from personal experience, but when I started this current project to migrate an ancient J1.5+VM1.x setup to a more recent codebase I was looking around at what were the current `best-of-breed` components and MijoShop caught my eye.
Plenty of good reviews and lots of reports of it playing nice with J3.x

The only reason I didn't end up using it, and went with VM2.x, was so that I could migrate all the legacy VM product data & artwork/description/layout without having to do too much work to shoehorn it into a new cart framework.

To be fair VM is *way* overkill for what I'm actually using it for - it's extremely powerful and customisable, but something of a 500 pound gorilla to work with.
In hindsight, because I'm really only using the VM catalogue features with no e-commerce, it might have been quicker/easier to have gone with J3.x/MijoShop from the get-go and re-created all the products from scratch  ::)
