: print and email icons
: bannorb November 18, 2013, 09:09:34 PM
Hello,

I have show icons, show print icon and show email icon all set to show, yet they do not.
The gear shows, but when I click it nothing happens.

Thanks,
Beth

Hello,

1) Try reassigning the Article Create Author and assigning it your current user ID

2) Make sure that the icons are enabled under the Menu Items directly. These will override the Global Settings for Joomla.

Hi Mike,

I tried both of your suggestions without success.
When I switch the template to beez3, the icons appear.
Is there anything else I can try?

Thanks,
Beth

Hello,

I'm sorry your post was overlooked. There's nothing on the template that controls this functionality. These are completely controlled by Joomla itself, and we are not able to replicate this problem locally and have no other users reporting the issue. The only other thing I can think of to try is remove the folder html/com_content in the template's root folder. If you remove that these drop downs will be outputted 100% by Joomla with no interaction from the template at all. You can also try building the site directly off of a site shaper as well, it could be a setting issue on your install.

Hi, for the record, I have this problem as well with print/email icon functionality with Velocity.

If I enable everywhere the little cog icon will show everywhere but it will only drop down to show the print and email icons in a category article view (which is the last place I would want to give print/email ability anyway). When you click through to the actual article (where the functionality is needed the most), again, the cog icon shows, but doesn't drop down to reveal anything.

I tried your suggestions here as well.

Cheers

Hello,

If the drop downs are working on some pages not others it means the functionality is working but something on those pages is causing it to not function. Often times this can be due to a Menu Setting toggling the icons off directly under the Menu Item or a 3rd party script that is conflicting with the drop down rendering.

On a default copy of Velocity I tested this and the icons were dropping down without any modifications.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your reply. Will have to re-check it out again from scratch if I want this feature to work.

I appreciate your reply and thanks again.

Has anyone found a solution yet?

Hello,

I would double check your settings for the menu item as well as the article specifically. Both of these needs to be set correctly for it to function with the drop downs. Following that I would check on joomla.org to see if they have any other insight as to why this happens. The output comes completely from Joomla and Bootstrap.

Hi again

Still struggeling with this problem

1. I have double checked the settings in both global settings/article and menu item, they ar all ticked "show"
2. I have also checked joomla.org for this problem but no questions in the forum about this.
3. I installed a fresh version of Velocity on another domain and still experiencing this problem. Note. The web hotell is using a one click installation of joomla, could that cause this?
3. Could you check the source code for some clues?  http://www.storabarnvagnsguiden.se/barnvagnstyper/duo-kombivagnar
4. I',m attaching some screenshots

I have another problem which maybe could be related to this.
1. The "Login" and "Register" is't working (they are showing either on the same site. If you click nothing happens. I have installed the "S5 box" and configured it. I don't understand if the "S5 box"-module should have a position set or just the "Login"-form

Hello,

1) First thing is to update the Framework to see if this helps at all:

http://www.shape5.com/blog/Vertex-3.5-Has-Been-Released.html

2) For the Login/Register links make sure you have both the S5 Register and Login modules assigned to the "register" and "login" positions respectively and that you have the S5 Box module assigned to the debug position on all pages using the Jquery Library in the module options.

Thank you so much Mike

I don't know if it was the new Vertex- version that did it but now it's working

Than you for your patience.
