: Internet Explorer 11 problem
: Chess4arab February 26, 2014, 10:11:55 PM
Dear,

I'm facing a strange issue with IE that happened 2 days back.

The fonts aren't displaying as per the attached.

Everything was working fine 2 days back and suddenly it not anymore.

     Appreciate your support.

Hello,

That's odd as the coding seems correct and all other browsers are rendering it properly. Sometimes IE can be really picky about px vs em values or certain Joomla outputs. Does it work if you publish a different menu there?

Hi Mike,

     Sorry for the late reply.

I tried to add another menu as advised, but still the issue.

Basically all the Arabic content at the body of any article isn't appearing in IE11.

    Appreciate your support.

Hmm,

Not sure what would cause that off hand since the output from the fonts is from Google. Did you try using a different font? Also, you said it was working before what did you change in that time frame?

No idea what has been changed...  It was a sudden change !!!!

Hello,

I would start with removing any extensions or coding you may have modified to make sure it isn't causing the page to break or conflict. I tested the latest copy of the Template locally and wasn't experiencing any issues with both the Site Shaper or the Template - Current.

Something you modified would have caused the page to break entirely or this is being caused by an extension. As long as you haven't changed any of the core CSS it should work properly.

Dear Mike,

   I couldn't solve the issue.

I installed Photobox template only and change the theme from control panel and all the text appeared. !!!!!

Hello,

Something you may have changed or added might have corrupted your current install then. If you remove the Helion Template after installing Photobox and reinstall it completely it should clear up any unwanted changes that may affect this.

Hello,

If you leave both Templates installed and PM me the back end access credentials as well as a link to the page that isn't appearing properly on one of them I can take a look. I would have to test to see why the outputs are different. Does this occur with only specific Google Fonts?

Hello,

I am not seeing any issues in IE11 on my end so I asked one of my co-workers on a different system to take a look and he isn't seeing any issues either. I posted a screen shot below of your site from his monitor in IE11. It appears to be loading the content properly and without issues. Be sure you aren't running IE in compatibility mode or something as I have seen that cause issues in the past.

So we I get this is couple PCs ?

Can you try IE 10 please..

Hello,

I can see the issue on IE10 but I am not sure off the top of my head why it wouldn't be appearing. I tested it using english characters and it was appearing so it might be an issue with the character set you are using. I will send an email to one of our designers to see if he has any more input on this one.

Hello,

I was able to look at this on another machine, as well as on our demo and I don't see any issues in IE with it. You could maybe try putting a block on the modules to see if that helps:

.module_round_box_outer {
Display:block;
Position:relative;}

Dear Mike,

Where should I put it in which file ?

: Re: Internet Explorer 11 problem

Hello,

You would add it in the custom.css file or the bottom of the template.css file.

Dear Mike,

I done it, but it didn't work.

I installed 2 fresh versions of the Heilon template one with Arabic language (v1.chess4arabs.ae) and the other as normal English language (test.chess4arabs.ae).

Again, the Arabic fonts didn't show in the Arabic version and the English version was working fine.

Also, I done another test.  I used the (test.chess4arabs.ae) and replaced on of the English text with Arabic, and it disappeared.

Hello,

I am not quite sure then as it sounds like an issue specifically with Arabic Fonts which is not something a Template controls. All the fonts are pulled directly from Google Web Fonts as well as the Language Packs in Joomla. The only thing I can suggest would be to make sure your servers character encoding is set properly to display Arabic Fonts. Following that I would try posting on Joomla.Org since the Template itself is outputting to the positions but isn't pulling the fonts from Joomla.

Dear Mike,

That's might be correct and I will do as per you suggestion, but when I installed different template it works fine ?!!!

      Regards,

Dear Mike,

I tried to check I Joomla, but couldn't find anything.

Also, I checked with my hosting admins and they told me that they don't have any issue with Google fonts and encryption and this was their reply:

    "Thank you for contacting HostGator.

I tested and it seems that Google Fonts are working normally on the server as can be seen at the following file I created: http://chess4arabs.ae/font_test.html

It also contains the boilerplate required for including a Google Font: "

as mentioned, if I install alternative template it will work fine.

I installed the Advertise template and it is active now (v2.chess4arabs.ae) and the fonts are working fine.

    Appreciate your support.

Hello,

Unfortunately we haven?t been able to replicate this issue on any of our systems at the office. The only thing I can suggest is make up a backup of the template files, and try deleting the css from template.css and com_content.css section by section until the area shows properly. If it never shows properly then it?s not a css issue, but something directly related to your site. The fact that it shows properly with English characters means that the Template is outputting the position fine but something on the site is blocking those characters specifically.

Dear Mike,

I fixed the issue by the following:

   I changed font family from font-family: 'Open Sans',Helvetica,Arial,Sans-Serif; to font-family: Helvetica,Arial,Sans-Serif ; in index.php file.

   It is working now.

   Regards,

Glad you got it sorted.

Must have been an issue with Open Sans and Arabic Characters specifically.
