: Upgrade from 2.5 to the 3.X version? : joetac June 01, 2014, 02:50:04 AM Hi,
A couple of years ago I built a site using Sports Nation Site Shaper for Joomla 2.5. Now I would like to upgrade this site to the Joomla 3.X version so that the website remains secure. What's my best approach for doing this that will help me to avoid any downtime? Thanks much! : Re: Upgrade from 2.5 to the 3.X version? : mikenicoll June 01, 2014, 11:27:48 PM Hello,
It won't be fully seamless as a lot of things will have to be modified or updated slightly. Here are a few things to consider: 1) Make a site backup before you do anything 2) Make sure if you need any specific extensions they are 3.0 compatible as they will need to be updated as well 3) Export the site and work on a local server to speed up the loading times and increase productivity Other than that you should just need to update Joomla from the back end, reinstall the 3.0 version of the Template, update extensions and modify any css needed. J3.0 introduces bootstrap which has its own CSS that can affect certain areas of the site and extensions. -Mike : Re: Upgrade from 2.5 to the 3.X version? : joetac June 01, 2014, 11:35:37 PM Good reply Mike. Thank you.
