: Can?t save template changes
: maranomedi September 23, 2014, 12:06:03 PM
Hi!

Strange phenomenon with the "Rising Hope" template:

I can?t save any changes (like color, background etc.)

To be sure it?s a template related problem I installed an older Shape5 template (Business Pro). When I make changes to that template, everything?s fine. So it must be something template , vertex script or PHP version related.  It?s not a browser related thing. Any hint?

Here are my server settings:

Hoster: Host Europe
PHP Version 5.3.29  (<- preety old)

Safe Mode    Off
Open basedir    None
Display Errors    Off
Short Open Tags    On
File Uploads    On
Magic Quotes    Off
Register Globals    Off
Output Buffering    Off

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

The only thing I can suggest would be to make sure you don't have any 3rd party scripts enabled in the back end a try a different browser. As noted you are also using an old version of PHP outside of the Joomla recommendations for 3.0. I tested this Template locally and live on my server and didn't have any issues with submission nor have we had this issue reported by others.

Ho,

no special 3d party scripts installed. I now tried it with different S5 themes and the last working one is No. 1 Shopping from March 2014. So I consider it has something to do with Vertex script changes that have been implemented in spring 2014. It would be interesting to know what it?s about. Sure, I could use an older template or do the changes manually in vertex.json, css and index.php (which I prefer to increase page speed, too many php queries for large projects), but it would be interesting to find out what the problem is about.

Thanks!

Hello,

The Vertex files used in the mentioned templates and the ones in Risen Hope are identical; there are no differences at all. Only frontend files such as css change on templates. I would suggest making sure your vertex.json is writable by increasing it to 777 chmod settings.
