: Target By URL Quit Working
: danzynda November 22, 2014, 08:03:15 AM
I'm trying to add a custom menu to the "Brunswick" page (short link is "/?p=2259") and it was coming up as a half column and there was a half column of space between the page content and the menu.

Now it stopped working. It's set up for "Show Widget On Selected" with nothing selected and the URL is "*/?p=2259*" but I've also tried it without the wildcards.

I just tried to add a page to the main menu and it's not showing up too.

Make sure you have the latest version of Widget Context (https://wordpress.org/plugins/widget-context/).  That plugin is what controls the ability to show/hide widgets.  If you are having a problem with that specific function, it's a problem with the plugin.

What do you mean by "Not showing up"? If you don't provide a URL, I can only guess at what's happening.

Ok. I'll check the widget control.

The website is www.greatgeorgiayardsale.com.

Do you want me to PM you the password?

I just looked at your site, and the reason that target by URL isn't working is because you're not using the correct URL.  If you are using the "?p=###" style URL, then it won't recognise it because your permalinks settings are configured to use text-based URLs.  Try using "*brunswick*" if you're trying to target that page; the Target by URL option is based on the actual URL that shows in the address bar of the browser when the page is active.

As I asked in the last response, what do you mean by "not showing up"?  Do you mean the page you created isn't showing in the menu editor?  If it's not, then you might not have actually saved the page.  You could also try the "View All" tab of the pages list in the menu editor to make sure the page actually exists.

When I tried "brunswick" before when targeting by URL, it wasn't working. I swear {raises right hand}. Everything is working fine now.

Except my eyes. Spent too many hours at work to get much done here at home. Headed to bed. Thanks!
