: Support for third party extensions?
: TheWizl December 03, 2014, 07:03:44 AM
Hi

I was refered to this forum by Michael Knott via email.

I am a graphic designer who builds Joomla sites. I am looking at your framework now. For now I have a free template installed (Design Control).
The most important extension I use, in every project, is Nonumbers "Advanced Module Manager". Which I can?t get to work with this template.

How is the support for this extension? Does it work on any template of yours?

And

Does your template behave like this with other extension? Overrides third party administration extensions?

Thanks

Magnus W

Hello Magnus,

I just installed this module manager and it seems to be working to me.  There actually isn't anything in Vertex that would prohibit it from working.  What is not working for you with this module manager?

I use the great template Design Control. Is it the template that can?t handle Advanded Module Manager then?

Hello,

I've seen several other members use this extension and no one has ever reported an issue. Unless the extension is somehow overriding the default way that modules are outputted on the frontend, which it should never do, there would be no issues. There are no template files that load in the backend of Joomla, so if the problem is in the backend it's a problem with the extension; and the template has no way to effect this.

Seems to work on a clean installation. I used Siteshaper on my other installation that didn?t work. Du you know any way to search the cause. I?m stuck.

Hello,

We cannot debug a third party script, our support is for our core products. A site shaper is just a standard installation, there's nothing modified other than our demo data being installed, and as I stated above there are no template files loaded in the backend. If it's working in a fresh installation you could always build off of that, most of the information in a site shaper gets removed anyway. You can install the site shaper in a sub folder as a reference if you need to copy over items like module settings.

I would suggest contacting the extension developer to see if they have any ideas, they would be able to better debug their own script.
