: Installing the City Portal template problem
: Randy Roberts January 26, 2009, 06:34:16 AM
Hi,

I recently downloaded the club template named "City Portal" and I always get the following error message whenever I've tried to install it:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 12582912 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 6233814 bytes) in /hermes/web02/b2591/pow.lisbonpolice/htdocs/libraries/joomla/filesystem/archive/zip.php on line 285

I've looked at the zip.php file, but I cannot figure out what to do about this. I'm not fully sure I even know what the error message is telling me.

Will someone please help?

Hello,

That is quite odd, what you can do is just create a folder "city_portal" in your Joomla templates folder and then unzip the city portal template to this folder.  This will also install the template.

Regards,

Thanks, but I still wasn't able to install the City_Portal template. Sorry, but perhaps I don't quite understand what you advised me to do. This zip file is unlike any other template zip file that I have ever seen or used. Is there some different installation procedure needed for Shape 5 Templates?

I really need this template to launch a new small city web portal. It is a fantastic template and it's exactly what (for a long time) I've been searching for. Will you please try to help me again? I don't know what is different about these templates from the others I have used before.

I'm not sure why the template isn't installing, I would double check you have the correct Joomla version.

What I was explaining to do is open up an FTP to your site or use some sort of file manager your server has.  Go to where Joomla is installed and look for the "templates" folder.  Then create a folder called "city_portal" inside this folder and extract all the contents of the template into this folder.

Sorry, but when I tried your suggestion, it did not work for me, so I still need some help.

As administrator, when I try to select CityPortal to upload with Joomla! 1.56 it will not even allow me to select that template. This really seems strange to me.

I have already tried manually uploading the template to my server and I then tried to extract it there, but that doesn't install correctly either.

This is the very best template I have ever found to suit my purposes, but after purchasing it, I cannot even use it. I am very excited that I could be using this template, but I'm still going nowhere with it right now.

Do I not understand site-shaper clearly enough to make this work? Site-shaper is something brand new to me.

Please, do you have any more suggestions for me to try?

Thanks,
Headeye

Can you PM Joomla admin access to your site?

I can login to administration, but when I go to install the pop with the file tree will not recognize the template zip when I select it.

I'm not sure what you mean by "install the pop".

If you PM login access to your site I can get this working, I'm not sure what else to tell you as I have already provided the alternate solution which can get a template installed by extracting it to the "city_portal" folder.

Thanks for hanging in there with me. It is very important to me that I get the template installed ASAP and I guess I need your help with that.

"install the pop" is a typo, sorry. It should read in the sentance as: "the pop-up with the file tree"

Also, I'm not sure what you mean by PM.

Thanks

I was getting a  - Warning! Failed to Move File -  and a message that the install file could not be found. . . .it turns out that my tmp folder in the root directory of my site had permissions of 755

I changed my tmp folder permissions to 777 [along with the templates and administrator/templates folders just for good measure] and my template installed perfectly!

Hope this helps someone!
