JS compression has no issues, CSS compression mess up the whole layout.

Any suggestions ? All up to date Joomla 3.3.6,  latest vertex.

url in pm, site is set to offline.

Why does it sometimes take so long to get a reply ?

Good & fast support is an essential item to keep your clients happy in my opinion. Specially when they pay a lot of money for templates including support.
Please correct me if i'm wrong.

Kind regards,

Hello,

I'm sorry your post was overlooked, our head moderator is out sick this week. Posts are typically answered with 24 business hours.

Sometimes compression does not work on certain servers, and cannot be fixed due to the configuration. Does the problem occur on all pages or only certain?

Does the JS compression work correctly? If so, the css compression is not needed as much because css is automatically cached on the local machine, javascript often is not.

Sorry to hear you have a sick member.

Yes, on all pages.
It is the same host where I host all my other websites, this is the only one where it occurs.

Better is to give it a look, when it can be solved plz do.

Had already a big time to get this site from grade F to grade B, this step can maybe get the last small boost.
Dunno why this template is a bit slower then usual, even in mobile I cannot get it real fast. Most is set to off now in mobile view.

I will give the url in pm.

Hello,

Can you send ftp access well?

There's nothing about this template that would be any slower or faster than our others. The template has very little to do with your page speed. Most of the grading is due to the amount of content on your page, image sizes, and most importantly the settings on your server. The recommendations here are probably the best thing you can do for site performance:

Ok, I'll send them over

There is only a IACF using 3 images, all under 100kb. and a logo on the page. that are all the images used.
The htacces I use gave a boost over over 30 %, from grade F to grade B.

The host is the same as what I use for my own site. That site has grade A.

But let us solve the main problem, the speed is something I deal with myself.  ;)

Hello,

Was this resolved? Feel free to shoot me the details if not.

Hi, yes Mike needed to acces the files through ftp.  He had to change some files. I did some more testing, on 3 installs the css compression fails. Local using MAMP, and on 2 different servers. Also it is hard to get the speed acceptable even with no images on the homepage. I know how to get your templates  on an acceptable pagespeed now. This one is hard to manage, my last site using swapps with a full width slider and parallax on the homepage is much taster. Compared it on the same host.
I think something is wrong in the files, dunno what. Why else would css compression fail 3 times on 3 different locations. Got about 15 Shape5 templates installed on my MAMP server. This is the only one with this css issue.  All up to date,  joomla & vertex.
Saw on this forum I am not the only one with the issue.
If you need some more info I am happy to provide some related to this.

Kind regards,

Hello,

I am not quite sure but if Mikek is looking into it than that is probably your best bet since he works on Vertex development. I am not sure off hand why it would occur on one installation and not another. Certain files can cause issues when compressed but it is odd that it wouldn't occur on all Templates.

Gave Mikek an update in pm, he knows that it fails on 3 other installations. It also fails on almost a empty template. Hope it can be found. I know for 99 % the issue is not server related. Not after 3 failures on different servers.
For now it works, thanks to Mikek but the files are custom repaired/adjusted now. Hope it stays ok, have to deliver this site within 2 weeks. No time for a complete make-over.

Hi,

Already know what is the issue about the compression  ?

Hello,

Unfortunately Mikek is on vacation this week so he is unavailable to answer tickets. I know he worked closely with the developer and programmer for Vertex so he would be your best bet to contact when he returns on Feb 1st. Just send a reminder and ask him if there is any progress on the compression issues.

Sorry for any inconvenience

Hello,

What version of Vertex are you running? Have you patched to the latest file set?

: Re: CSS compression fails
: orbitgroup February 05, 2015, 03:46:16 PM
Yes. Latest. 3.6.....

: Re: CSS compression fails

Hello,

We made a couple revisions to 3.6 slightly after release. Could you try re-patching your site files with the update patch to see if this helps? Also, certain files are not designed to be compressed and can cause issues. If you have anything 3rd party on the site try disabling them before enabling compression.
