Hi,

Steps to reproduce error

1. Use the Prestige academy
2. Click Appearance
3. Customize
4. Click say 'Navigation'
5. Javascript error occurs

Please help with this issue. Browser version Firefox 37.0.2

The problem is most likely caused by the fact that the framework is too complex for the customizer to be supported.  You need to use the separate menus and widgets areas to edit those parts of your content; the "Shape 5 Theme" menu option is where all other customization can be done.

You can also apply the Vertex Upgrade Patch (http://www.shape5.com/component/option,com_docman/Itemid,96/task,cat_view/gid,308), which is constantly being updated with core improvements, new features, bug fixes, etc.

OK so you mean to say Shape5 theme Menu should be customized from either Appearance -> Menus (To change menu ordering or select from menu versions supplied by the theme) OR 'Shape5 theme Options' (for CSS,font,Layout changes) from the WP backend. The option 'Appearance-> Customize should not be used ?

I got this error when I clicked 'Appearance -> Customize' from the WP backend. Whenever the Javascript error comes, I stop the script and then make the changes that I want and I see it reflected perfectly in the website. I changed the 'Site Title & Tagline' and selected one of the shape5 menu options from the 'Menu' drop down (refer attachment from initial post). Do I have to stop using 'Appearance -> Customize' to make changes in any of the options displayed in the first screenshot attached?


I am absolutely new to both WP and Vertex so please excuse me for such simple question. Since I have already used the CUSTOMIZER, have I modified any files irreversibly? do I have to redo any changes?

I downloaded the 'prestige academy' couple of days ago and used the site shaper to launch my initial website. I assume it already has the latest vertex upgrade patch included in it.

The customizer doesn't edit any files, so you're fine. 

Settings->General will let you change the Name/Tagline.

Appearance->Menus is where you manage the menu structure and assign menus to specific positions.

Appearance->Widgets is where you position and configure widgets.

The "Shape 5 Theme" menu option is where theme and framework specific settings are located.

As for the patch, I've made a few changes since the last time the downloads were updated.  There are a lot of downloads, so they only get updated when significant changes are made to the framework; any minor changes are just pushed to the patch and only make it to the downloads when a major update makes it necessary to patch all of the downloads.
