: Upgrade to WordPress 4.1.2

Hi
I'm a newbie to WordPress and Shape5 templates, so apologies for the dumb question, but can you tell me if the Big Picture template is compatible with WordPress 4.1.2?

I'm being told that critical security vulnerabilities apply to the version of WordPress I'm on (3.9.5), so need to upgrade.

I tried the upgrade in a dev environment and it seems to have broken the carousel image fader thingy.

Thanks
Chris

Hello,

This forum is for Joomla - Big Picture. I believe you meant to post in the Wordpress Forums on the site instead of here? Let me know and I can move this topic.

Oops, sorry about that. Yes, please move the thread to the WordPress forum if you can, Mike.
Thanks.

Sorry about the delayed response - for some reason I didn't get the new post notification for this thread.

Yes, all Vertex-based themes are fully compatible with the latest version of WP.  The pre-responsive (Released prior to Corporate Response) use an older javascript library and require more complicated patching, but Big Picture is new enough that applying the Vertex Upgrade Patch (http://www.shape5.com/component/option,com_docman/Itemid,96/task,cat_view/gid,308) (If you feel the need to) will be fast and easy.

As for the issues with the Image and Content Fader - you most likely updated the plugin at the same time as the WP update, and the latest version of the plugin adds a few new options that will not be updates until you edit the widget and save it.  Once the widget has been re-saved (you don't have to change any settings, just save again to add the new options to the database), everything should re-appear and function normally again.

Great, thanks Tristan. Will give it a try.  I didn't get notification of your response either, so not sure what's up with this thread!  (I did post it originally and incorrectly in the Joomla section and Mike N moved it over, so perhaps it is behaving differently as a result!).

Tried, and worked great. Thanks Tristan.
