: Weird Menu behaviour
: munchman May 26, 2015, 05:37:00 AM
Hi, I am creating  a few menu items, linked to a couple of articles which are sub menu items. When I start at home I can click on any of the menu items without issue, but when I try and navigate back to any other menu item (including Home) I get 'webpage is not available' message.

I also notices the url it tries to navigate to is messed up. The below was the url that it tried to surf to after leaving the .co.uk/gig-guide-test page by clicking on forum-area menu item.

xxx.co.ukgig-guide-test/index.php/forum-area

Any help appreciated as I havent seen this before

Many thanks, Ben

Hello,

That sounds like an issue with your servers SEF URL settings and .htaccess file. Can you also test in another browser to see if the issue occurs there as it could also be a session issue on your browser. Does the issue occur on our demo site for you?

Hi Mike, the demo site is fine and checked with another browser, still the same.

I did notice is its only a couple of the menu items that creates this issue. I did enable sef urls and renamed the htaccess file also with no difference.

2 of my 4 menu items try to surf back to, for example 'Home' but add their own url address to the home url (without a forward slash) so end up with a mashed up url that makes no sense.

Im sure this is something Ive done wrong when creating the menu items. Im confused, any help appreciated

Thanks, Ben

Hello,

I am not quite sure as our Template doesn't control the menu functions, that is all built into Joomla itself. If it only occurs on specific menu items perhaps try deleting those ones and recreating them to get another menu ID and alias. This might resolve any type of issue with a database corruption. Other than that I would suggest looking on the joomla.org forums to see if anyone else has a similar issue.
