: Mobile Menu Problem
: jdrury August 20, 2015, 05:07:55 PM
Seeing some weirdness with the mobile menu: Root Items are displayed in uppercase (no big deal, I'm cool with that), however here's where the weirdness begins... I have the menu set to sidebar, selecting open or closed in Auto Open displays the same (closed), ordinarily no big problem except the fact that a typical user would click on the menu name to display the children, of course when this occurs the user is directed to the page instead of having the children displayed. Clicking the arrow to the right achieves the desired effect (I can't count on users knowing this). Additionally if a user does happen to click on the arrow and displays the children, the parent item is also present in the list.

Auto Open: Sidebar - item are closed regardless of closed or open setting / Drop-down - items are open regardless closed or open setting.

So my question is: how can I get the menu title w/arrow to just activate the drop-down and not direct the user to a page?

Hello,

If you are using a different menu for the side bar (apart from the one on your main menu) the menu won't be able to detect the "active" page and open the parent/subs accordingly. If you are using a different menu for the side bar you can set up those parents as a Text Separator so they don't become links when clicked. The functionality you described with the "arrow" is necessary for Tablets so a user could go to the appropriate links assigned to the parents or drop down the menus in a single button.

Regards,

I was using the main menu. In any event having it auto-open is not important to me, I would prefer it closed and have the user open what they want... I like your idea of creating Text Separators to achieve the desired effect... you rock!

Tried your suggestion using a text separator and it does work to toggle the menu without redirecting to a page, but this created a whole new problem... I understand the main label (toggle) is generated from the first menu item, how can I remove that from being displayed in the menu items once the menu is opened...nothing like triple redundancy!

Hello,

I am not quite sure what you mean. Do you mean you want the Parent Menu item to be hidden once clicked and the children are loaded in the drop downs?
