: Hacked!

It seems that I have a hacked site eav.co.nz, the hosting company has replaced the index.php file so the site loads, but I cannot access /administrator page.  It is just blank with no login or password fields.  Any idea how I can get in to do a Joompla update?

Hello,

If your site has been hacked you need to do a lot more than just replace the index file. Usually when hacks occur backdoors are installed so that the person can just come back in again. Hacks almost always happen because of outdated software such as the Joomla installation, server vulnerabilities, or a virus on the user's computer. I would advise having your host restore a complete backup of your site, including the database to over-write any other modified files. Change all passwords. Update Joomla and any third party extensions to the latest versions. And run a virus scan on your local computer. If you haven't done all of this, you are leaving the potential open of another hack.
