All articles will take on the layout of the parent page unless you have a menu item that overrides the layout. You would need to create a new menu item that points to either the article itself or the category. You can publish that menu to something like bottom_menu. On this new menu item don't publish any modules, and the full article will take on the layout of that new menu item's layout. : Re: How can I display the featured article on its own page? : karenlee59 March 29, 2016, 04:14:28 PM All the articles display in the component area are assigned to 'news and announcements' and are marked featured articles.

I don't have a tutorial to show you how to do this step by step, the steps are all listed out above. You need to create a menu item that points to the category that your articles are published to. Without doing that Joomla doesn't have a page assignment for your articles so it just takes on the homepage layout.
