Hi There,

I'm having difficulties with the following if someone can help please. (Using Wordpress with Health Guide theme)

1) How to control line breaks and paragraphs in editor. Is this controlled in theme? Currently only getting line breaks not paragraphs using return key in editor.

2) How to control font size throughout site in theme manager.

3) Map not recognizing address.

4) How to control breadcrumbs. Currently displaying 'pages' in breadcrumbs which is category I believe.

Site was installed as a siteshaper.

Thanks in advance,

Markt

Hello.  I am deleting the other thread that you posted to the WP general area as a duplicate, and due to being posted to the wrong location.  As for your questions:

1 -    Under the "Shape 5 Theme" menu item in the admin, on the "General" tab, you will see the "RAW HTML" option.  If you disable that, WP will be allowed to add paragraph breaks again.  This option is necessary on the demos due to the WP auto-formatting breaking some of the demo content.

2 -    All general theme options are controlled through the theme admin under the "Shape 5 Theme" menu item.

3 -    Can you give more information?  ..also, please make sure you are on the latest version of the plugin, as Google now requires an API key for the map, and there was a necessary update to add the config for the API key.  The best way to do this is to just download the plugin from the downloads area, delete the version on your site, and re-install the plugin - any existing settings will not be lost.

4 -    Currently the only configuration for the breadcrumb is to enable or disable it.

Thank you for your reply.

Can you clarify where the font size can be controlled because I cannot find this under "Shape 5 Theme" menu item.

Thanks,

Mark

There are font override options under "Main -> Styling" in the theme admin.

Can you tell me where I can find the CSS font settings. I would like to change the body size and some widget headings. Would these changes be effected if template was updated?

: Re: Health Guide Theme
: Tristan Rineer January 23, 2017, 03:20:05 PM
If you are planning on making changes to the CSS, I highly recommend using Firebug (http://getfirebug.com/) to not only find which file the CSS is located in, but the exact line number for each CSS rule, so that you don't have to spend a lot of time digging through files.  Firebug (http://getfirebug.com/) also allows you to change the CSS values in your browser so that you can see what the end result will look like before actually updating any files to make the change permanent.

Thank you for your reply Tristan this was helpful.

I'm not sure how this has happened. However, after editing a widget that was installed with siteshaper, (editing page title from <h3> to <h1>) the width of the homepage has changed. I have no idea how this has happened because no other settings were changed. The width of the page has reduced.

Do you know why this could be?

Thanks,

Mark

Can you post a link to your site so I can see what is happening?  Without being able to inspect the code with Firebug (http://getfirebug.com/), I have no way of beginning to diagnose the problem.

Thank you Tristan.

I have no idea how it happened.

Could you please also confirm or tell me the best way to find the following widget positions as they are in Demo.

Home page quick contact and Our doctors widgets.

: Re: Health Guide Theme
: Tristan Rineer January 27, 2017, 12:58:47 PM
After looking at your site with Firebug (http://getfirebug.com/), it appears that when you changed the content in the Custom5 position, you may have accidentally either removed an open <div> that was needed, or added a close </div>.  The result is that all of the site that is below Custom 5 in the code thinks it is contained inside the Custom 5 position, keeping it at the width of the content area, rather than the page.

You can see the locations of the widgets on any page by adding "?tp=3" to the URL anywhere on your site:

http://www.castlebromwichdirectory.co.uk/healthybodiesclinic-wordpress3/?tp=3

or on the demo:

http://www.shape5.com/demo/wp/health-guide/?tp=3

: Re: Health Guide Theme

Thank you Tristan.

Having looked at the custom 5 widget, I have no idea where or which is the issue? I'm not sure if it happened when I edited the custom 6 position?

What is the best way to get the default code that is included in the demo?

This may be helpful for future instances.

Thanks,

Mark

: Re: Health Guide Theme
: Tristan Rineer January 27, 2017, 03:21:27 PM
It's very possible that the error is in the Custom 6 widget, as I believe it is located within the Custom 5 section.

The best way to get the demo content is to have a second installation of the shaper to use for reference without making any changes to it.

: Re: Health Guide Theme
: markhutton January 27, 2017, 03:59:41 PM
Thanks Tristan.

Is it possible you could email me the default code for the custom 5 and 6 widgets please?

In future I will save a copy of the code of each widget before editing.

This is my first time using Wordpress. In Joomla I used to duplicate the modules. However, it doesn't seem possible to do this with WordPress.

Thanks,

Mark

: Re: Health Guide Theme
: Tristan Rineer January 27, 2017, 04:03:03 PM
In order to give you the code from the demo, I would have to install the shaper on my own server, as I don't have admin access to the demos; it would be much more efficient for you to just install the shaper to a separate location on your own server, so you can use it as a reference.

: Re: Health Guide Theme
: markhutton January 30, 2017, 07:21:36 AM
Hi Tristan,

I am trying to edit the CSS of the heading for the tab show in module 4 position.

I have located the path using firebug a:s /wp-content/themes/s5_health_guide/css/editor.css (line 945).

Editing this location in firebug produces the desired result. However, when editing in cpanel no changes are occurring.

Am I missing something?

Thanks,

Mark

: Re: Health Guide Theme
: Tristan Rineer January 30, 2017, 02:36:35 PM
Does your server have some kind of caching enabled?  That or a caching plugin would be almost the only explanation for changes not being reflected in the browser.

: Re: Health Guide Theme
: markhutton January 31, 2017, 08:44:31 AM
Thank you Tristan, it seemed to be a chaching issue.

Again for no apparent reason, I now have an issue with the CSS of the custom 5 widget.

Please see http://www.castlebromwichdirectory.co.uk/healthybodiesclinic-wordpress3/ for details.

I can see this issue in firebug. However, I cannot find the path.

I uploaded the default editor.css file but this has not resolved the issue.

Other than somebody having access to my site via ftp or similar, is there any other reason why CSS would be effected?

Thanks,

Mark

: Re: Health Guide Theme

The color scheme is broken on the custom 5 widget.

Could you also please confirm the widget position for background images in the top row 1.1 and bottom row 1.1.

Thanks,

Mark

: Re: Health Guide Theme
: Tristan Rineer January 31, 2017, 01:02:27 PM
Broken how?  Are the colors incorrect?  I believe the colors are controlled on the "Specific" tab of the theme options.

The background images for the rows are always controlled on the "Main" tab of the theme options - just click the image icon for the row you are wanting to update.

: Re: Health Guide Theme
: markhutton January 31, 2017, 01:17:39 PM
Yes, colors are incorrect. These color options are not controlled in the 'theme specific' tab in theme options. I cannot find an option to change the color scheme of the custom 5 widget in the theme options anywhere.

: Re: Health Guide Theme
: Tristan Rineer January 31, 2017, 01:26:13 PM
It appears that the colors for the sections inside the text widget in Custom 5 are controlled by the Highlight color for the theme.

: Re: Health Guide Theme
: markhutton January 31, 2017, 01:30:16 PM
I did alter the highlight 1 color last night. However, it wasn't what I wanted so I set it back to default. I have just checked again and re-saved but no changes are taking effect. No other widgets that are controlled by the highlight 1 color are effected either.

: Re: Health Guide Theme
: Tristan Rineer January 31, 2017, 01:59:00 PM
It seems that something is off with the way the other colors abe being calculated from the highlight color.  It looks like it's designed to just make things a couple shades darker, but on your site, it's not doing the calculation correctly.

I'm not sure exactly how it's supposed to function, so I'll have to ask one of the designers, and wait for a response before I can get back to you about it.

: Re: Health Guide Theme

I look forward to receiving your response regarding the custom 5 position Tristan.

However, in the mean time, I need to correct the following before the site can go live.

1) I have uninstalled - deleted - reinstalled - activated the V2 S5 map plugin and published to bottom row 3.1 position. However, it now does not display at all in the widget position. I have ensured the widget is set to display 'everywhere' and have also entered the Google API Key.

2) How can I change the heading from h3 to h1 while keeping the style in the top row 1.1 position?

3) I have copy and pasted code from custom 6 widget to custom 7, but the custom 7 widget centers the text. How can I edit this to align left?

4) When submitting a message with the quick contact plugin, half of the page does not reload. Checked in multiple browsers. Also, no mail is being received. Setting is set to use server.

5) Change font used in the Healthguide Clinic Centre heading and phone number in bottom row 3.2

Why can't these things 'just work'?

If I can correct these I should be good to go...

Kind Regards,

Mark

: Re: Health Guide Theme
: Tristan Rineer February 01, 2017, 01:51:11 PM
I look forward to receiving your response regarding the custom 5 position Tristan.

I forwarded the information to the designer who worked on that release.  Here's the answer I got back:

That design used a function that automatically adjusts the hex color by adding or reducing. Sometimes the number goes out of range. He can modify index.php and find:

:
		.top_box_2 {
background:#<?php echo change_Color($s5_highlightcolor1,'+20'); ?> !important;
}
.top_box_3 {
background:#<?php echo change_Color($s5_highlightcolor1,'+40'); ?> !important;
}

He can either change those to +10 and +20 or he can simply replace the php code with his own custom hex color.

   Hopefully that helps.

1) I have uninstalled - deleted - reinstalled - activated the V2 S5 map plugin and published to bottom row 3.1 position. However, it now does not display at all in the widget position. I have ensured the widget is set to display 'everywhere' and have also entered the Google API Key.

The map is there, but it hasn't been given a height.  You'll need to give it a height before it can appear; "%" heights are not valid.

2) How can I change the heading from h3 to h1 while keeping the style in the top row 1.1 position?

That would require editing the code that generates all the widget formatting, causing all widgets to have the H1 tag, which is not recommended for SEO purposes.  It is also considered custom coding, and is not covered by support.

3) I have copy and pasted code from custom 6 widget to custom 7, but the custom 7 widget centers the text. How can I edit this to align left?

You may be able to get the result you want by adding the following code to the bottom of the style.css file for the theme:

:
.large_text h3 {text-align:left; !important}

4) When submitting a message with the quick contact plugin, half of the page does not reload. Checked in multiple browsers. Also, no mail is being received. Setting is set to use server.

The e-mail not submitting most likely is being caused by the site failing to load, which may be caused by either something in the widget settings or a setting on your server.  The form on the demo submits without issue, so I recommend checking the widget options to make sure everything is correct.  You may also want to try changing it to not use the server, to see if that is the issue.

5) Change font used in the Healthguide Clinic Centre heading and phone number in bottom row 3.2

All font controls are in the theme options; if it's not an option, then it would be something that requires custom coding, which is, as stated above, not covered by support.

I recommend checking out the Codecademy HTML and CSS course (http://www.codecademy.com/tracks/web) to learn the basics of how HTML and CSS work; it's free, and if you combine that with Firebug (http://getfirebug.com/), you should be able to figure a lot of things out on your own, which is generally faster than waiting on support.

Thanks Tristan,

The same thing has happened to the color of the read more links now. All I did was change the code from "readonreadon_highlight1" to "readonreadon_highlight2" and save the widget. Now the hover color is black on both read more link causing a similar issue to the custom 5 widget?

I'm really not sure how to solve this one. This shouldn't be occurring though right?

Still having no luck with the quick contact plugin. I have changed setting from server to user and the site does load now. However, no mail is received?

There is another issue with the menu. If I take the link away from the menu item, so that it just acts as a menu separator then the text style is changing?

There should be a space after that first "readon", so if what you posted above is what you actually changed it to, then it's not working because it's incorrect.

Have you set a destination e-mail address in the widget settings?

Are you referring to the main menu, or a menu somewhere else on the site?  Everything in the main menu looks fine to me.

: Re: Health Guide Theme
: markhutton February 02, 2017, 01:45:12 PM
Yes there is a destination email address in widget.

readonreadon_highlight1 was taken from backup siteshaper I have installed. There was no space used.

The main menu. I will take link out of one of the menu items so you can see.

What is the solution for the custom 5 widget? I'm not confident changing the indec.php file and should this even be necessary? The code is the same as in the backup siteshaper I have. I'm not sure how this can just change from editing in theme area?

: Re: Health Guide Theme
: Tristan Rineer February 02, 2017, 02:13:53 PM
Yes there is a destination email address in widget.

It may be possible that your server is blocking the sending of e-mails through PHP.  The plugin uses the e-mail method that is built into WP, so if WP can send you notification e-mails, the widget shoudl be sending the e-mails correctly as well.

readonreadon_highlight1 was taken from backup siteshaper I have installed. There was no space used.

Your site and the demo both have a space in the classes for the button; when I change the class in Firebug without removing the space, everything still works fine.

The main menu. I will take link out of one of the menu items so you can see.

I see what you're saying about the style change.  Instead of completely removing the link, try changing it to "javascript:;" without the quotes.  That will allow the menu to treat the item as a link (complete with styling) while having it not actually go anywhere when clicked.

What is the solution for the custom 5 widget? I'm not confident changing the indec.php file and should this even be necessary? The code is the same as in the backup siteshaper I have. I'm not sure how this can just change from editing in theme area?

Can you try changing the color in the admin again?  After taking a closer look at whats happening, it may be that the color is not entered correctly.  If there is a "#" in front of the color code, that will need to be removed, as the code in the index file already has it, and doubling up may cause the issue you are having.

: Re: Health Guide Theme

Great! nearly there...

I entered 000000 as the color code for both highlight 1 and highlight 2 and saved. I then re-entered the correct colors and it is working fine now!

In regards to the contact plugin, I will speak to bluehost support to see if anything is blocking the mail.

I'm not sure what you mean about adding "javascript:;" without the quotes though?

Can you tell me how to find the location of the H1 H2 and body font size and color please?

Hopefully they will be able to give you some good information and solve the problem.

Exactly what I said.  Replace the link in the menu item editor with "javascript:;", but don't include the quote marks.

Can you tell me how to find the location of the H1 H2 and body font size and color please?

If you inspect anything you want to change with Firebug (http://getfirebug.com/), it should tell you which file to look in and which line the CSS definitions are located on.

: Re: Health Guide Theme
: markhutton February 02, 2017, 05:30:11 PM
I got it! javascript:; goes into the custom url field in page manager and not in menu manager.

I have the contact widget working too! Email address needs to be on the same host as website.

Regarding font size - I have inspected the body text with firebug, and, after editing, it is changing the text size of some widgets as well as body page text. I don't want to change widgets, I would like to change titles, body text and line height of pages. I don't think current size and line height help the page to be readable.

Changing in theme specific options changes the size of text in widgets, titles and body and I don't want to do this.

What do you suggest?

: Re: Health Guide Theme
: Tristan Rineer February 03, 2017, 01:33:17 PM
Can you post the CSS that you're using?  It's likely that you just need to be more specific with which ID or Class that you're applying the changes to; by duplicating the CSS that you want to change & adding the correct ID or class, you can make it only apply to a specific area.

: Re: Health Guide Theme
: markhutton February 03, 2017, 02:24:17 PM
Template.css 3 for body text

Headings other than the page title I cannot find. Only line I can find in CSS changes all the headings h1 h2 h3 h4 h5.

: Re: Health Guide Theme
: Tristan Rineer February 03, 2017, 03:32:11 PM
If you copy the rule defining what you want to change, and remove the things that you don't want to change from that rule, then it will be able to change only what you want.

As I said previously, changing code isn't technically covered by support, but hopefully I've managed to help you get your site closer to looking the way you want it.

Hi Tristan,

Can we remove page titles with this theme so that I can enter them myself in pages or widget positions?

Also, why are there two images displaying in the bottom row 1 widget like this? http://www.castlebromwichdirectory.co.uk/healthybodiesclinic-wordpress3/sports-massage/

Thanks,

: Re: Health Guide Theme
: Tristan Rineer February 08, 2017, 03:30:50 PM
You can change the title of the page in the page editor - other than leaving the title blank, there is currently no other way to disable it.  That is not a feature of WordPress, and has not been added to the framework at the moment, although it's a good idea, so I'll add it to my list of features I want to add when I'm able to.

As for the images, the background image is set in the theme options under "Main -> Layout" by clicking the image icon on the row that you want to change the background for.  The foreground image is a text widget that you have in the Bottom Row 1.1 position.

: Re: Health Guide Theme
: markhutton February 08, 2017, 03:44:04 PM
The background image of the homepage needs to be different to the background image of other pages. On other pages it will be a smaller size. Like you can see on the demo site under widget positions information. The image that is set in bottom row 1, when I disable that widget, then both images disapear. I just want the background image.

Regarding page titles, I have to say, this is my first time using WordPress and I would much rather be using Joomla. I never had half these issues with Jommla. I have no idea why WordPress is so popular in comparison.

: Re: Health Guide Theme
: Tristan Rineer February 08, 2017, 03:56:13 PM
There is no way to make the background be a different image; if you're saying you want the section to be a different height, that will happen if you have a widget of a different height in that location.  When you remove the widget that you have in that location, the position disappears because it is empty.  The Joomla version will do the exact same thing.  If you want that background to appear without anything on top of it, you may be able to just have an empty text widget there to trick the framework into thinking that the position is being used.  If that doesn't work, you could also try using a clean markup widget instead.

: Re: Health Guide Theme
: markhutton February 08, 2017, 05:26:57 PM
I'm not sure if we are following each other.

On the home page of the demo site, the Bottom Row 1.1 position is displaying a large image. However, there is another page at "Features menu - 102 Widget positions page there is a different image with different size assigned to a different page. This is what I'd like to replicate.

: Re: Health Guide Theme
: Tristan Rineer February 09, 2017, 10:34:04 AM
It is the same image on both pages of the demo.  The only difference is the size of the area that reveals the image, which is controlled by the size of the widget in that area.  The image is displayed in a "parallax" design, which means that the image doesn't move when you scroll, and different parts of the image are revealed as you scroll up or down the page.

: Re: Health Guide Theme
: markhutton February 09, 2017, 11:19:46 AM
I have checked the Bottom Row 1.1 position on a demo siteshaper but there is only one widget that is asinged to display on the front page. There is no widget is set to disply on another page such as is shown on the demo site.

Can you advise how to achieve this?

: Re: Health Guide Theme
: Tristan Rineer February 09, 2017, 02:45:41 PM
The shaper has 3 widgets in the Bottom Row 1.1 position.

You installed the shaper and content is missing, it's most likely that the file that installs the demo content got corrupted when you uploaded it.  The easiest way to fix it is to delete the "Sample Data Injector" plugin, then re-install it by extracting the "/wp-content/plugins/shaper_{theme_name}.php" file from the shaper, putting it into a .zip file, and using the WP plugin installer to re-install it from that new file.  Once the plugin is re-installed, activate it once to reset the site to a default shaper install; when you activate it, you'll need to make sure you wait for the page to completely finish loading before you navigate away so you don't interrupt the database dump, which would prevent the sample data from being added and cause the same problem again.

For future reference: When uploading the shaper for a new site, make sure you have your FTP client set to use "Binary Mode" for transfers; any other option can cause file corruption for PHP files, which is usually what prevents the sample data from being installed correctly.

I installed the siteshaper via FTP in Binary. However, I was getting multiple errors including duplicates. Therefore, I uploaded the zip file via control panel and extracted to the desired location. Is this appropriate?

The Bottom Row 1.1 position I have has 3 widgets. One text widget detailing the style for that position, a text widget for doctors of the front page, and a quick contact widget?

: Re: Health Guide Theme
: Tristan Rineer February 10, 2017, 12:24:41 PM
The text widget with the details about the position is the one that shows on the page where you thought there was a different image.  As I said, the image is the same, it's just the height of the widget that changes, and that is based on the content of the widget.

Hi Tristan,

Can you please tell me why I'm getting some strange spacing issues when using the code from the FAQ's page. I've copied and pasted the code from both the front and back end but I'm getting the same result. However, on both the demo and a test siteshaper I have it displays fine?

I have PM you the link.

Thanks,

It looks like WP added auto-formatting to the code; you'll need to make sure you're using the "Text" tab (not the "visual" one) of the page editor when entering code.

If you look at it in the Text mode, you'll see that there's additional unnecessary code in-between the code that's actually supposed to be there.

I did paste the code in text editor. Is WordPress changing code on saving? If so, what should I do?

The auto-formatting that WP applies is the reason I had to add the "RAW HTML" setting in the theme options.  If you don't want to enable that option because of formatting being needed elsewhere on the site, you may be able to use a plugin like this one to get the result you need:
