: traction site php 5.6 to php 7.0.19

I have a traction site I am transferring from one reseller to another.

It currently has 5.6 version of php and I am getting this warning:

Your PHP version, 5.6.30, is only receiving security fixes at this time from the PHP project. This means your PHP version will soon no longer be supported. We recommend planning to upgrade to a newer PHP version before it reaches end of support on 2018-12-31. Joomla will be faster and more secure if you upgrade to a newer PHP version (PHP 7.x is recommended). Please contact your host for upgrade instructions.

When I try to update to version php 7.0.19 in the cpanel, then go refresh my site, the site goes off line. When I put the php version back to 5.6 the site comes back on line. The best I can tell any / all extensions are up to date.

But obviously something is not working correctly.

Look forward to any help!

Thank you,

Hello,

First of all be sure you are running the latest Vertex files:

https://www.shape5.com/documentation/Vertex-Framework/Joomla-Specific/How-To-Patch-Vertex-In-Joomla-and-Changelog

Then make sure your Joomla installation is up to date.

If it's still blank that means you have an extension installed that is incompatible with Php7. You would need to disable all third party extensions, including plugins to determine which is causing the problem.
