: template updates and file overrides

Hi,

I'm trying out your templates for the first time, using Design Control as a tester. I've noticed that to do things such as removing the template logo, removing the shape 5 logo at the bottom, replacing the favicon, removing shape 5s copyright text all require changing things in the template's core files. I'm worried about what happens to those changes when there is an update to the template. For example, if I remove the favicon.ico file that lives within the template folder, what happens when there is an update to the template? Or if I removed the logo from the template's index.php file, what happens when there is an update to the template?

Also, changing these things is probably common to almost all users. But, it was only searching the forums that I found how to do this. Is there documentation that lives within the template that explains this?

Thanks,

Karen

Hello,

Updates to the template are extremely rare, almost all the updates happen on the framework level itself which takes care of any issues or updates. A framework update won't effect core css files, logo, footer, etc. Those all stay in tact.

All of our documentation is found here:

https://www.shape5.com/documentation/

You'll find tutorials for changing the logo, footer, etc. The favicon.ico you simply over-write in the template's root folder with your own. If you have any specific questions please post in the Design Control board and we'll be happy to assist you from there.
