Hello,

I have upgraded my Joomla from 3.6.x version (I think) to 3.8 and the main menu in the front end has disappeared. Can you please help with any ideas as how can I fix this?

PS I have uploaded the Vertex patch, but it doesn't make any difference.

Thank you, I have just done this, but nothing seems to have changed. I am not sure though about the last step - "In the backend of Joomla go to Extensions/Template Manager and then open your templates configuration link. Save any changes that you wish and the upgrade is complete!". Do I go to Extentions > templates > Styles and just click Save? If so, I did it, and still no changes...

PS I can see I am running the latest version of Vertex now. Still no main menu on the front end. When I restore to my back up before upgrading to Joomla 3.8 menu works. I make no other changes.

If you are running 4.2 it will fix the menu problem. Make sure your server doesn't have any kind of cache enabled.

Hey I have the same problem.
I uplaoded all the files in the folder via FTP, but in the template about section it still only shows 4.0.

Anything that could have gone wrong?

If you updated and it's still showing 4.0 then either the patch was not applied properly or there is cache enabled on your server. Please be sure to follow the patch instructions exactly as given.

I did everything correctly. I updated the Vertex 4.2.0
Soon after I updated my site jommla to version 3.8.1, I was without menu, as shown in the link.

I can see from here that you are running 4.1 and not 4.2:

Please follow the tutorial exactly as given. You must over-write the existing files in the sports_nation's folder.

As I stated above you did not update to 4.2. You can click on the link that I provided for the xml file and see the version number towards the top. You need to over-write all existing files to perform the upgrade.

I have tried this several times my self to no avail. Will this have to be done on every shape 5 template that exists prior to 3.8.1 before we can make upgrades to 3.8.1 or will Shape5 / Joomla create a download that fixes the problem outright?

Hello,

You must be running 4.2 if you are going to upgrade to 3.8 or higher. This was an issue with Joomla where they decided to rename and move menu files, so the patch has to be adjusted for this change.

What specific issues are you having? The tutorial we give provides exact instructions for the upgrade.

For example, I have done exactly as the instructions indicated. I copied files folders of the patch and pasted directly into template root folder.

This is what was now my website. (attachment capture) It states that the XML file cannot be found. The back end is fully functional. Also, in Extensions> Template  it now shows the Vertex 4.2 as being current.  (attachment  capture2).

Please advise.

I also ran into this problem where I tried to replace the specific.xml from the original site and the site was worse- just listing the menu on the left with no website.

If you're getting an xml error that means the files is missing because you are not using proper ftp settings. What ftp client are you using? You need to make sure your files are being over-written. When file/folders are removed it is because your ftp client is removing the entire folder and its contents and then just uploading what is in the patch; which is not all the files.

I am using filezilla. I repeated this process again. At this point, what am I suppose to change in step 6?

I at least get a website now, however, there is no  front page menu, and on the admin side, Templates, its showing the 4.1 version, not the 4.2 version. admin sides confirms I am 3.8.1 is up to date.

I am certain you are as frustrated answering these questions as I am in asking them. This seems easy enough, however, I am not getting the desired results.

If you have no configuration changes you want to make you do not need to save the configuration.

The screenshot shows that you did not over-write the files. Please be sure you have cache completely disabled on your server as well. If you want to private message me super admin access and ftp access I can patch it for you.

I have all my sites in jommla version 3.7.5

When trying to upgrade to version 3.8.1, all go without menu.
I reinstalled everyone in version 3.7.5

My websites are 10

2 JSN Venture Pro
3 Sport_Nation
1 helium
1 attraction
1 Oasis
1 Risen-hope
1 emma_and_mason

In one of them I updated the vertex to 4.2 and it did not happen at all, according to this link:

I do not know what to do. I prefer to have the sites in version 3.7.5 and not miss the menus. I know that in the long run having the outdated versions can bring problems.

Explain how to solve this problem.

I checked your link and it is showing 4.2.0. I also checked your site: http://www.ultraestrelacor.com/ and the menu is showing with no issues.

It is being displayed because I reinstalled version 3.7.5.

On all sites even updating vertex, it leaves no menu.

I think this is a serious situation and that there must be a quick solution on the part of Shape5.

My 10 sites purchased from Shape5 at this time can not be upgraded to version 3.8.

Shape5 should ask why Vertex does not work even when updating Vertex.

The sites joomla "JSN Venture Pro" in the template there is no vertex, what is the update for the menu does not disappear with version 3.8.1 ???

This is a template by another company.  You would need to contact them as we don't provide the template "JSN Venture Pro"

What if you have the Desing_Control template? I'm experiencing the same issue. The main menu has disappeared.

Regarding one of my models, I send two images of the update to vertex 4.2.0

And then the update from 3.7.5 to 3.8.1 and the menu does not appear.

We will need to see the issue live in order to assist you, not a 3.7.5 install. The menu problem has been fixed on hundreds of sites with no issues by upgrading to 4.2.0.

Did you go to the updater after you installed it and update Vertex via the updater? Just installing the component won't update your site.

Yes I have.  It says that I have the most up to date version of vertex.

Ok if you can PM me login details (Joomla and FTP) I can take a look and get this working for you. I'm not sure off hand why its not working.

I'm having issues as well. i have tried to download the update and it will not even locate the installer.

Hello Dmitriy,

Did you try the FTP method? If the component isn't working for some reason the FTP method will work and get your site up to date.
