Hi there,
I'm running Vertex 4.01 and would like to update to 4.02 (necessary before updating Joomla to 3.8).
I have read your tutorial but am not comfortable with the job.
I would very much like to see a tutorial with screen shots, or even better a video tutorial. Would that be something you have available?

I haven not yet tried to upgrade the Vertex framework ... but was a bit surprised to read that the extracted files from the zip folder should be uploaded in the exact same order as they were extracted. How do I make sure that happens ? And which other things should I pay attention to in the process? Someone told me it is very important to put the site in maintenance mode for exemple. Anything else?

You would upload them with an ftp client such as Filezilla. The tutorial page will give you all the instructions on how to perform the patch. Making sure your Joomla install and any extensions are up to date is all that's really needed.

I'm preparing to do this PRIOR to my Joomla update (to 3.8) as I have heard that there are quite a few problems if one updates Joomla without having the newest Vertex version. Your tutorial menions that the order of the upload (exact same as when extracted from the zip file) is very important which doesn't make a lot of sense to me (I don't decide on the order as far as I know) ... Wish me luck!!

The order will not matter. You can upgrade Vertex before Joomla or after
