You can try increasing the mobile trigger width under Main/Responsive Nav in the template configuration. This will cause the mobile menu to trigger sooner. You can't change when the flex menu changes to a single column. It has to do that or there isn't enough room to show the menu. Or may be I could just make the space on the left and right of my three columns smaller. I could not find the code myself. Just the name of the file would be greatly appreciated.

That's not css, that's controlled by the framework javascript files.
